Any suggestions for a Chesapeake location for a middle-aged couple who will be looking for some R&R after dropping the only child off at a UMD in late Aug. ?
We are coming down from Long Island and don't have any feel for what areas or towns we should gravitate towards along the Chesapeake. Looking for a quaint town on or near the water- hotel or b&b recommendation, near restaurants and water sport activities (i.e.kayacking. etc.)
So you want a town on Chesapeake Bay, or a town near Chesapeake, Virginia?
Chincoteague is my first thought. If it absolutely has to be on the bay, I would say Annapolis.
I do not want to pass my advise off as expert, but St. Michaels is said to be lovely. The Tides Inn in Virginia is also said to be a great spot.
But I love Annapolis. I would recommend staying at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel. It is the finest hotel in the area, right on the water. Request a corner room with a view of the harbor. Great dining (and pubs!) and shopping nearby. Very quaint town.
