Travel Tips for Fredericksburg
Old (no current!) courthouse
by b1bob
This building, built in the 1850s, is the current Court House. Inside, visitors will find Mary Ball Washington's (George Washington's Mama's) will and appointment of her husband, Augustine trustee of Fredericksburg on display. I had assumed that, like Hanover and Fairfax County, that even this historical city elected to move its current courthouse to more state-of-the-art digs. Fredericksburg does better than most places of staying true to its history. Certain people might choose to make fun, but that is clearly my favourite thing.
A good camera
by b1bob
I'd make sure I was wearing a good, sturdy pair of shoes. Fredericksburg is chock full of historical sights, old buildings, fine dining, and antiques. So, I would probably bring lots of film for a conventional camera or a memory card with lots of space for those with a digicam.
Famous Ice Cream
by Buckmarko about Carl's Frozen Custard
They are very fast here. That's the thing. They've been feautured on Food Network and in travel guides. The ice cream is good, but it's not going to wow you; it's similar to Dairy Queen. What you get is an order that comes up before you're even done ordering. Go for a sundae. A walnut sundae hits the spot on a hot day.
Hyperion Espresso
by iaint
This looks like the cool place to hangout with your Macbook and a latte...especially for student types. A very relaxed place to enjoy a coffee. It is right opposite the museum.
Free wifi. Lots of tables & chairs outside for 6 months of the year.
I found it ideal recovery after my trip round the museum.
