Travel Tips for Lexington
Lexington, VA

"Lexington, VA"
Lexington is a small (population 7,000) college town. Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute are next to each other near downtown. Both Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson are buried here. We are in the Shenendoah Valley between the Blue Ridge Mountains on the east and the Alleghenies on the west. The nearby Blue Ridge Parkway and several lakes and rivers provide many opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Woods Creek Trail

"Upper End"
Woods Creek Trail is a 2.1 mile hiking trail that goes along the Creek from Waddell Park to the Maury River at Jordan's Point Park. It's a great place to go for a walk and many in the community do. You can see the trail to the left of the Duck Pond in this picture.
"The Ducks"
Today (3/13/05) we found the ducks downstream in the creek instead of in the Pond.
"Stone Railroad Bridge"
The trail goes under this old stone railroad bridge. I believe it was built in the 1880's and abandoned in 1943.
