There is so much to do in Newport News. I enjoy the Newport News Park the most. It has a small lake where you can rent paddle boats and take a cruise, and several large parks for children to play in. There are dozens of trails for walking, biking, nad running. The park also host a lot of fests and events, a lot of which are free. they have a campground just on the other side. you are also able to feed ducks and geese, and they are quite friendly. this is a large recreation area you could definately spend the day at and its fun for the whole family! The best part of Newport News is that you are in the middle of all the attractions. your are in the center of hampton roads, close to it all. colonial Williamsburg, busch gardens, water country USA, the jamestown settlement, historic yorktown, and the famous battlefields are with in 20 minutes. you can also tour many of the military bases which there are plenty in the area. your just a bridge tunnel away from va beach, and your always near a body of water wether its the james river, york river of chesapeake bay!
