More about The Inn at Vaucluse Springs
Home away from Home
We have been going to the "Inn" for 9 years. Each year we approach the building feeling like we are going "home" Barry and Neil are not just the most attentive proprietors, but "family" members that great us with open arms. We have stayed in many of the very unique rooms and have found each and every one special in it’s own way. The staff is dedicated and attentive. They take the time to engage with each guest in a manner that makes you feel so very special.
We leave the Inn feeling rested. We are always satisfied that we have been pampered, entertained, and well fed. I highly recommend this location for anyone seeking a weekend that is all about capturing a moment of pure tranquility and peace. Leave your cell phones behind, and breathe…you will find that you can get along nicely without noise and distractions…you will wish to come back, and like us, will book again as you are leaving.
We spent the weekend with two other couples at Vaucluse. Neil and Barry are the owners and we found them delightful and ready to do almost anything to make our stay pleasant. They gave the three couples the three beautiful rooms in the lower section of the main house so that in effect we had a suite to ourselves. We would retire to that area (it had a fireplace and very comfortable seating) after dinner for conversation.
We recommend signing up for both the Friday and Saturday dinners. Both were superb with the Friday a little more casual. There was a cocktail time (45 minutes) for all the guests before the Saturday evening meal. Breakfasts were a treat.
We definitely plan to return to Vaucluse Spring in the future. It is very close to Skyline Drive and other attractions in that area. We spent a lovely day on Saturday at Harper's Ferry.
One of the Very Best
Anyone looking for a romantic stay in Virginia is well-advised to consider this amazing site. We've just returned from our latest stay there, and as always we came away totally impressed. This is a complex on a lovely secluded property, with a main house, and then several separate rooms/houses, including a most charming little house set right on the pond. All are within walking distance of each other. In the fall and winter, it is a delight to relax in the evenings in front of a roaring fire. In the summer, sitting anywhere in the property is wonderful, but especially overlooking the little pond or on the porch of the main house. Meals here are really superb, too, from the full breakfast to dinners, and the inn hosts are charming. This place is IDEAL for weddings or receptions and corporate retreats. The location is ideal, as well, for folks just sight-seeing in the northern Valley area. The directions on the site's website are good, but be sure you watch carefully for Vaucluse Road, as it is very easy to miss the small road sign. We love this property, and return to it every chance we get.
We have stayed here about 12 times over the past few years and were never disappointed. It is very comfortable, in a beautiful setting, with easy access to events in the surrounding area, and last but not least, offering some of the finest, most delectable cuisine you can imagine. The husband and wife inn keepers are so warm and friendly without being at all intrusive. Barry provides humor and enjoyable discourse to the extent you might desire it on a wide range of topics, while Neal, his wife, is primarily occupied as chef extraordinaire. The rooms are not rustic but neither are they ornate; instead, the decor strikes just the right balance of refinement and casualness. For just enjoying a good book, or the newspapers which appear daily by magic in the lobby, you have a choice of several differnet spots both inside and outside.
Fall Getaway at the Inn at Vaucluse Spring
My husband and I spent a lovely fall weekend at the Inn at Vaucluse Spring, where we've stayed at least once a year since we were married 6 years ago. This is a very special place for us, as it feels like we are visiting dear friends who take us into their lovely home and offer the best hospitality you could imagine. The facility itself is beautiful, comfortable, and perfect in every detail. The food (a big priority for us, since we love to cook ourselves) is wonderful and we savor and delight in every bite. And Neil and Barry couldn't be more gracious. This year we brought two other couples with us and had an especially enjoyable time. The other couples loved the Inn too and I believe will be eager to return again next year. When you want to give yourself a treat and be truly, pampered, we highly recommend the Inn at Vaucluse Spring!
I have stayed at many "distinguished" accommodations, but none ever compare to the Inn at Vaucluse Spring. Most have excellent accommodations and/or food, but none of them can match the gracious hospitality of Barry and Neil. Their added personal touch is what distinguishes them from all the rest and makes The Inn at Vaucluse Spring an unforgettable experience. Once you have been there, you are forever spoiled. Any other facility will never be able to meet their standard. It is an unforgettable experience that will keep you coming back again and again.
Wonderful Bed and Breakfast
My boyfriend and I loved the Inn at Vaucluse Spring. Neil and Barry were very friendly and inviting while not being intrusive. We had dinner at the inn Friday. The food was seasonal and tasty. My boyfriend doesn't eat eggs so they made him a special meal one morning for breakfast. The property was pretty and well kept. We enjoyed sitting on the chairs set up near the water and reading the paper provided by the inn. We stayed in the cabin which was great. We went wine tasting at Linden Vineyards and hiked in the Shenendoah National Park/Skyline Drive area - I'd recommend doing both. The whole trip was really nice and peaceful. We can't wait to go back.
A Great Retreat
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Inn at Vaucluse Spring. We actually hadn't been there an hour when we were planning our next visit. The grounds are lovely, the interiors are tasteful and comfortable, and the service is exceptional but not fussy. In short we had a great time.
We stayed in the Chumley Suite and loved the fireplace that opens into both the bedroom and bathroom...a very warm touch in December. The general level of hospitality throughout was comfortable and thoughtful. And the layout of the property with a limited number of rooms in each house enhances the sense of privacy. We honestly felt more like we were at my family's summer home than at a B&B. (Not that any of our homes ever looked this nice.) It was a great break in the country for a reluctant DC urbanite. At the same time, the proximity to Winchester gave a number of fun options for dining and antiques.
We stay pretty often in small hotels and B&Bs all around the world and this was probably our best overall experience. We've paid more but I can't say that we've ever felt like we got more. Needless to say we plan to come back...in fact I'm having second thoughts about the wisdom of writing this glowing review. Forget what I've written. Stay away; you'll hate it! That will leave more rooms open for us!
Our third stay was as good as the first two
The Inn at Vaucluse Spring again has lived up to our expectations! We stayed in the Strother Room upstairs in the main manor house. The lodgings were superb, as was the hospitality and three-course breakfast on Sunday morning. Our room was large, beautifully furnished, and we enjoyed the late evening sipping wine by the room's remote-controlled gas fireplace.
Top Notch Relaxing Romantic Getaway
From the time I spoke to the reservation person to book a room until we said our goodbyes to the innkeepers the morning we left it was first class across the board. I've always had reservations about staying at a B&B or Inn, because when I want to get away, I want to get away and usually that includes people as well. I must say that these folks changed my mind about the misconception I had about these types of places. They were there to warmly greet you and take care of your needs but they were not imposing at all. The grounds were impeccable, as were the rooms. We stayed in the Margaret room and were very pleased with the relaxing atmosphere. As we pulled up to the manor house there were at least 10 deer standing on the front lawn. Breakfast was hearty, filling and scrumptious. These folks have hit the mark. Everything was spot on and my wife and I plan to take a trip back as soon as possible.
