Best Western Tysons Westpark Hotel

Convenient and Reasonably Priced

Located on 8401 West Park, it was convenietly located to Tysons Corner Galleria, to Chain Bridge Road (VA-123) into Vienna, VA and to I-495 (for arrival and departure).
We chose this motel: 1) because it is Best Western and we have had good experiences at those motels before 2) because it was close to the malls 3) because it was reasonably priced (double occupancy $85 in 2005, with continental breakfast). Our friends decided to take rooms in the Arlington area at nearly twice the cost. We chose to make a longer drive to Arlington and stay at a motel we could afford (and use the money we saved for sight-seeing and souveniers).

Our plan was a good one but the execution had a flaw. If you did not get on the road to Arlington by 7am then you got stuck in traffic moving at about 10 miles an hour most of the way.
Before 7am and after 6pm the Vienna/Arlington passage was about 20 minutes. Otherwise it was more like an hour commute by car.
Our route to Arlington was West Park to Leeburg Pike( route7) to Arlington Blvd(route50) to Washington Blvd (route27) to Columbia Pike(route244) to the Sheraton on Orme Street. Drop off the car, get guest parking pass at Sheraton ($6 per day), take Sheraton shuttle over to Metro line, take Metro to Arlington. On the way back to our motel, we reverse the trip except we were able to cut out route 27 and route50 and take route244 right into route7.

The motel itself was clean and utilitarian, a bit on the getting-old side but all facilities were available and operating (laundry, gym, pool, restaurant, bar). Friday and Saturday night there were semi-professional commedians (faces I have seen on the Comedy Channel on cable TV) in the bar attached to the motel. The motel was generally quiet accept early Friday and Saturday night due to increased traffic for the comedy club.
The room had microwave, two beds, non-smoking (and no smoke odor), coffee maker, iron, hairdryer, tub and shower.
The continental breakfast had fruit, cereal, a waffle maker, toast, doughnuts, coffee.
