birding in Glyndon Park
We did not find any large parks in the near-Vienna area to get some birding in on our vacation but there were a couple of small in-town parks that allowed some viewing and a nice quiet walk.
GlyndonPark (which connects with Beulah Road Park) is partly baseball field and picnic area with a playground and tennis court thrown in on the side. On the periphery of the park are some hiking trails that wind back among the trees and provide some birding.
The park has some pavillions and charcoal grills for those who want to picnic. There was a restroom facility.
Sparrows, robins, chickadees were the predominant species of birds seen. Although it wasn't the best birding place (nor the best part of the birding season), it did provide us with some quiet "down-time" and a healthy stroll through the woods.
to get there:
I-495 exit 46 onto route 123 going west. Route 123 is Chain Bridge Road then Maple Ave. Connect to Beulah Road (the same one that goes to Wolf Trap Park) and go north a few blocks and see the signs.
