Wonderful Romantic Get Away for Us!

WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED our recent vacation to the Capes Ocean Resort Hotel! We stayed in one of the Jacuzzi rooms with a King bed It was a great get-away for us! We had a wonderful time. The hotel is located in the center of the oceanfront section of Virginia Beach. It was a perfect location! We found the desk-clerks to be warm and quite helpful, providing us with excellent suggestions for restaurants and shopping. We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed our private, oceanfront balcony. Our housekeeper was very nice, also. We enjoyed the hospitality and look forward to returning often in the future to the Capes Ocean Resort Hotel.
Not fancy but definitely felt safe there alone

I spent a long Easter weekend April 19-22 at the Capes by myself, as my husband couldn't get the time off, to be close by to visit with my daughter who lived nearby. You can't get by the desk clerks without them knowing who you are and the elevators were great with great modern elevator music. I liked the room except the carpet was badly stained and the bathroom sink was clogged the whole time I was there. I couldn't get anyone in to fix it while I was there so I used the kitchen sink for everything. The microwave, small under-counter fridge and sink, counter and cabinets were all in very good shape and the decor of the bedding and pictures on the wall was very sunny with an ocean theme throughout. The walls are very thin, the first night, some teenagers got out of hand at 1:00 a.m., but the management responded immediately and it was very quiet after that. The front desk apologized to me profusely, IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT ABOUT THE LOUD TENANTS, BUT THEY TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY.
I would definitely recommend this place to someone who is staying alone. The securfity is impeccable and I was watched out in the front lot as I was getting things out of my car.
The only drawback is it is in the middle of the teen/collage strip, so if you like peace and quiet, start at either 30th Street or go back to the Rudee's Inlet to 10th Street area.
LIKE I SAID, MANAGEMENT/FRONT DESK WAS FANTASTIC AND FRIENDLYH, JUST HAD THE FEW SMALL PROBLEMS NOTED ABOVE.

Our Hotel Room was nice.By looking at the outside of this Hotel you wouldn't think so.The outside looks runned down and small.But once you are inside it is quite nice.The Staff was friendly.We didn't have to wait a long time for extra towels.The room was very clean.The bathroom is a little too small for my liking.The View of the Ocean was really nice.They offer Room Service which is great.We got the 2 room Suite.Most Hotels offer 2 beds and a pull out sofa bed.Not this Hotel.We had a bed in the living room.That made sleeping more comfortable.Making this a total of 3 beds.We liked having a third bed.The thing that I wasn't impressed with was the pool.It was cloudy and dirty.Other then that,we would go there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Capes Ocean Resort in September and absolutely loved everything about it. We had no complaints other than a slight drip in the bathroom sink, which was taken care of immediately after I reported it. The rooms were clean and wonderful and the bed and furniture was comfortable. My husband was very impressed with the lobby decor (lots of traditional pieces with beautiful wood work). We'd definitely stay there again. If you take a room in the summer time in Virginia Beach, you will probably have a problems with bugs and sand, since YOU ARE ON THE OCEANFRONT. Being stupid for not understanding MOTHER NATURE and what to expect at the beach is no excuse to give your hotel a bad rating. Use your coomon sense, the beach is the beach and that is why we all travel there. Thank you.

my family and i stayed at the capedin august 2003 for 8 days, we had been there before but this time was different. my problem was they advertised that they had laundry but in fact the 1 washer and dryer they did have were broke, when i brought it to the attention on the manager and he gave me a cocky answer that really made me mad. There were several guests there that were as unhappy as i was. when we were checking out i had asked for the name of who owned the property and they said they couldnt give me that information, they said take a card and write to this address which was the same address as the hotel, so they would open my complaint and toss it in the trash. there was 1 woman there that was friendly, the rest were rude and unhelpful.
although i think va beach is a beautiful place, if we do return there, we will not stay at the capes because of the way we were treated. i think for the price we paid we deserved more respect than we recieved.
the owners should know what kind of people they have running their hotel because with the attitude of his employees, they will go out of business. i would love for one of the owners to contact me about my experience. i have been told after some investigating that the hotel is owned by a group of investors, so im sure they have no idea of the rude staff at that facility, alls i do know for sure is i will never go back.

my wife and family have stayed at quite a few motels and hotels in va beach . we go down at least once a month starting in may to sept.our favorite is the capes. the people are very friendly and personable.
they know us by name when we appear through the doorthe only problem that we have experianced was we always ask to be located on the first or second floor. and had been granted the area. but when we arrived someone had switched us to the third floor. and given our area to the neptune festival groups that stay there also. it was pusetting to us because i am an asthmatic and dont like the idea of having to clime the stairs if the elevators are not available in an emergency(IF RESTROOM IS NEEDED). BECAUSE OF THE SWITCHING OF OUR ROOM WE DONT STAY THERE AS OFTEN AS WE USE TO ALTHOUGH WE LOVE THE STAFF I THINK THERE WAS A PREFERANCE SHOWN

we brought our kids down for april vacation - the location was great, rooms were perfect, the staff was very pleasant and helpful, even the owner of the little restaurant is a great guy. we will definitely go back
Horrible Management on Duty!!!

The onsite manager on 5/6/04 was horrible!!! Rude and inconsiderate and had no customer service skills. He even lied to me!!! I will never stay there again due to his demeanor. The management of this place needs to seriously look into this guy and get him out of there!!! I know you can find out who it was. He was working on 5/6/04 about 4:00pm, tall, thin, dark hair, bad attitude. Due to his rudeness, I will never spend money here again, nor will my friends. We are all older, and visit VA beach during the week when hotels need customers like us and because of him, you have lost a whole lot of us!

I have stayed at The Capes for years. Most recently a 10 night stay the 1st of May. I have nothing but positive comments to say about the hotel and its staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful they even know me by name when I walk in the door. They always give me a beatiful oceanfront room. I love the hotel's location right in the center of the beach we can walk just about every where we want to go. We have never had a problem with our room and it is always very clean. I would have no problem recommending this hotel to any trip advisor users.
