Fort Story Beach
by bugalugs
As this is a military installation and the beach is used by them it is not accessible to the public, but there is a pathway leading to view the beach area.
Here I am sitting in the shade of the pergoda in a bit of shade with the new lighthouse in the background.

Four star Continential Cuisine

The clam chowder features 'designer clams', with golden potatoes. My turkey club was a work of art, and the best I've eaten. Such attention to detail that is not often seen are never overlooked here. The ambience is luxurious, Boca-Bermuda style, and the seating is limited, so call ahead for evening meals. Lunch is a great time to sample the quality of the food. I fully recommend that you try this small, hidden jewel for a real treat. They have a full menu that changes from time to time. From wonderful fish entrees to steak, rack of lamb, there is something for everyone. You will be glad I shared this one with you. All, and it will take some time to sample the rest of the menu.
Life Saving Museum

When I planned the trip, I noted on the map that the Life Saving Museum at the Old Coast Guard Station (formerly the Life-Saving Museum) was in Virginia Beach right on Atlantic Ave. We got there about 9:15, but it was not open until 10, so I took some pictures and then we went on.
I thought it was sad that it was completely overshadowed (literally) by the tall hotels on either side.
This is the only existing station in Virginia with exhibits on shipwrecks and rescues. The role of the Coast Guard from the Battle of the Atlantic in World War II to the present day is chronicled
