Virginia Beach Fishing Pier Scam Artists
by johnsaraceno
My wife and I vacationed in Virginia Beach the last week of June, 2006. Overall, Virginia Beach is a fun town, but whaterver you do, stay away from the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier on 15th ST. The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier: the fishing wasn't that good, the customer service was despicable and the price is outrageous! I spent $32.00 for 3 1/2 hours of pier fishing and caught 4 small fish, and thats not the worst of it...
While on The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, I was confronted and publicly berrated by the parking lot attendant who claimed that I owed an additional $8.00 for parking because my wife decided not to fish. Here are the brilliant policies of The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier: If 2 or more people are fishing, parking in their lot is $2, but if only one person is fishing on The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, it is $10 to park on their lot? It then costs $8.00 per person to go onto The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, to fish, and $2.00 just to walk onto The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier to spectate. So for instance, if youre wife goes with you to watch it will cost you $20.00 plus whatever you spend in their bait and tackle shop. If you both go to fish, it will cost you $18.00 plus whatever you spend in the bait/takle shop... Is this absurd or what? Someone please help these people at The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier.
Historic Williamsburg
by Goner
Williamsburg isn't really off the beaten path as it's a very popular destination from Virginia Beach. It's the largest authentic Early American town that was the first capital of the US. No cars are allowed on the streets, all you see are horse and buggies. The buildings are the original buildings of the period and these building house the arts and crafts indicative of the era.
The trip is less than an hour north of Virginia Beach and an easy day trip.
Get off Atlantic for the best food!
by vbeatso about Tautogs, Coastal Grill, La Bella Italia.
Places off of the boardwalk are just better in general. Avoid all buffets on the Atlantic ave area, they are all costco type items and way expensive. For a seafood buffet try Captain Goerge's many people like this place it is $25 p/p at least. A lot of people love Coastal Grill(seafood) it is has the same thing all year round except soft shell crab in season. It is off Great Neck. Tautog's (southern/seafood) is very close to the Oceanfront area but you have to be looking for it it is only open for dinner and in a houselike setting with a big porch. From the boardwalk just turn down 23rd Street and go down a few blocks until you see it on your right it will have a fish sculpture in the front near the side walk and the menu list. La Bella Italia is on Laskin Road there is also Bella Monte very close by and many say they like La Bella Italia better. Aldo's is in the Hilltop shopping center and another very good Italian place. All mentioned are in the $14-25 range for dinner.
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
by bugalugs
When I first saw a picture of this bridge before going there I said there was no way I would be travelling on it. I dont like bridges, especially over water. But when I saw it, although still not too keen knew that I had to do it. What a magnificent piece of engineering it is. Its over 17 miles long, and connects Virginia Beach to Virginia's eastern shore, saving many miles as opposed to going all the way around.
Big Sandcastle on the boardwalk in virginia beach
by butterflykizzez04
This is a large poly resin sandcastle sitting inside a big sandbox.. It is wonderful in the summer time to put the little ones into to play.
The girls liked getting their picture taken even though it was alittle cold. This is located on the boardwalk near 30-34th street.
