More about SpringHill Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Enjoyed our stay!

by TripAdvisor Member TannerVA

We stayed at the new Springhill Suites Sept 15th-19th and really liked this hotel. We have two small children (two and four years old) and wanted to stay at a clean and safe hotel. We got what we wanted here. It was very clean and bright and the balcony rails were safe for my two year old. Plus it had an extra lock on the sliding glass door he couldn't reach so I didn't have to worry about him getting on the balcony by himself. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and the extra space was wonderful! I thought the balcony was going to be bigger for the suite but it wasn't. It did have a second balcony from the living area but that was very small. We stayed on the 10th floor and had a great view! I did see the HUGE balconies for the second floor rooms.
We thought the breakfast was good and it wasn't crowded during our stay but it was September. They had everything the kids liked and it was great being able to go right downstairs and have a free breakfast buffet. Pools were clean and big. We used the indoor pool and whirlpool a lot since the weather was cool while we were there. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to VA Beach!

Nice beach hotel

I received a great last-second rate ($189/night) for a 1 bedroom suite for a group of 5 of us, and we were overall happy with our 2-night stay.

The room was spacious: a large bedroom with 2 queen beds, a large separate living area with couch, big chair, table, and a small kitchen. There was also a separate sink area with private doors outside the bathroom, which had its own sink, so 2 sinks total. Felt spacious for even 5 people. The decor was bright and tropical. Everything was clean and new. We got a 2nd floor room based on reviews we read, since these rooms have a huge private balcony (with 2 tables with 4 seats each). We were quite amazed by the balcony and the view, especially compared to the tiny balconies on all the other floors.

Complimentary buffet breakfast was pretty good, especially the make-you-own waffles.

The location of the hotel is right along the developed oceanfront near plenty of restaurants and shops. The beach is very big with soft sand and nice waves.

We did have a few issues. The main room was rather dark when we arrived, and when we reported this they brought in another lamp. Also, there were not enough waste baskets, and one of the 2 sinks was missing a mirror. I was told that a mirror was scheduled to be installed in the near future. These flaws will hopefully be resolved soon.

Also, in order to request a late check-out, the earliest I could request this was 7 AM the day of checkout. I'm not sure if this is standard practice, but waking up at 7 AM on Sunday to request late check-out (I was able to push it only a hour) was inconvenient.

Overall, a good stay, but this new hotel needs to resolve a few minor issues.

Enjoyed stay

This hotel is fairly new and is very family oriented. We stayed here 3 nights end of august 2007. Room was clean and acceptable size. To A/C was hard to control however, the vent was directed towards the bed. I ended up hanging a towel in front of it. Free internet access is pratical for someone who does not have a laptop. The roomkeeping was done late in the day which I didn't like. Breakfast was good.

Beachside luxury found in Virginia Beach!

by TripAdvisor Member hou77019

I stayed at the SpringHill Suites in VAB for a meeting and found the hotel to be way above average for what is typically a limited service brand. Every room is a suite and has an ocean view! You can walk out the back of the hotel right onto the beach and the boardwalk.
The property is more in line with a full-scale Marriott - casual and elegant lobby, spacious rooms, fitness center, business center and pool/jacuzzi - all clean and well maintained.
Our meeting room was comfortable and the staff cheerfully accomodated every request - down to milk with our afternoon cookie break.
On the downside: The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Also, the breakfast only uses plasticware, plastic plates, styrofoam cups and bowls - not very green.
All in all, I will definately stay here again when in the area.

Very nice hotel

We loved this hotel! The rooms were spacious, however this being a new hotel, we were surprised that it wasn't very clean (some things were dusty, and the toilet bowl looked like it hadn't been scrubbed since it was installed).

We had a very large balcony (make sure you request a 2nd floor room!). The decor was lovely, and it was very easy on the eyes.

The only complaint we had was that the breakfast was exactly the same everyday - sausage patties and egg patties and waffles. It would have been nice to have bacon occasionally, or perhaps french toast, as we stayed there 5 nights.

Overall, we loved the location, and would stay there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

New and Refreshing

by TripAdvisor Member aaronerdmann

This property opened just a few short months before our stay. Springhill Suites is one of Marriott's 'budget' brands, but this hotel is a cut above . The styling is modern and bright and the property is extremely clean.

The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We took advice from our fellow Tripadvisors and requested a 2nd floor room. What a payoff! Our balcony was almost as big as the room itself! The outdoor patio furniture is cheapy, a basic plastic 5 piece, but the size of the balcony and the increadible view makes up for that. The living room has a 36" flatscreen plasma TV- nice touch.

The parking is great but could have been designed a tad bit smarter. Theres seperate elevators for the garage and the hotel so you need to ride two elevators to get to your room. The nice thing about the parking is that the garage is attached to the hotel. Many Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotels have parking on the opposite side of a very busy street which can be a real pain.

The staff is very hospitable. Not a single complaint here. The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. The housekeepers are top notch. Even at 4 star resorts I always have my gripes but I honestly can't think of anything the housekeepers did wrong. They even pick up trash underneath the couch.

The breakfast buffet was good but could use some work. Its free so you really can't complain.

I'd rate it the 2nd best hotel on the beach, next to the Hilton. But at half the price you really can't go wrong.

Great hotel

We just stayed here in October. The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly. My daughter loved the indoor pool. We also took the advice from other reviews and got a second floor room. The size of the balcony was unbelievable. We will definetly stay here
again.

who knew??

I took my daughter and two of friends to the oceanfront for her 13th birthday this past weekend. We staued two nights at this hotel. Amazing. She and her friends had a blast, incredible room, beautiful indoor pool and lobby areas. The staff were wonderful and called our room about an hour after we checked i to ensure everything was ok. It was. And the view..the only down side was not havng my boyfriend to share it wit,h it was a shame wasting such a beautiful sunrise on 13 year old little girls.

Great Casual Hotel on the Beach

by TripAdvisor Member SPGT

We stayed in a King suite on the 11th floor for (4) nights in October. As mentioned in previous reviews, the hotel is new, clean and the staff friendly. Room was serviced promptly each morning. Never had to call for anything. The view of the ocean was terrific and with a set of binoculars, you can check out the ships and boats that pass by - not to mention the F-14's that occasionally fly over from the Oceana Naval base. The breakfast buffet was great (better than most hotels) with a wide selection of food, but not a lot of variation from day to day. Food was restocked fairly quickly. The breakfast area and lobby was spacious, lots of natural light and open windows to the beach. With the 5 mile boardwalk at your doorstep, walking and biking was convenient. Looking down from our room, we were able to see the large 2nd floor balconies mentioned in other reviews. We preferred the view on the higher floors over the larger balcony. Our balcony was comfortable for two people, but would be cramped for 3 or more. The wireless internet signal was a little weak on the 11th floor, but functional. All in all, a great place to stay and would highly recommend this Spring Hill Suite.

Spring Break 2005

by FAunh81

Hi Everyone!

Myself and 5 friends are planning on visiting Virginia Beach for the weekend of March 25-27, 2005. We just wanted a close and cheap, but exciting Spring Break. Any recommendations on nice, cheap hotels to stay at with ocean front rooms. What are great places to go eat at? What nightlife is there, and what bars / clubs can we attend? Are the police that bad down there? Any other close cities, such as Williamsburg, Norfolk, etc. that we can visit and how far are they from Virginia Beach. We are just trying to do as much as possible in a three day span. How is the weather? The water really that cold, and is it sunny enough for tanning or the beach even? Completely new to visiting Virginia Beach so I can really use a recommendation as to whether it is worth going there, or if Myrtle Beach or another spot will make our Spring Break a lot better.

Thanks!

Virginia Beach for spring break is still pretty chilly. Myrtle Beach is farther south and better climate in the early spring. Basically, the farther south you can go, the warmer it is.
But, Virginia Beach is fun and there are fun things to do. Check out the clubs at the beach and at Waterside in Norfolk. With a car, you can make easy day trips to Norfolk, only twenty minutes away, or Williamsburg, only one hour.
