As you can see in this picture the boardwalk is not very busy. When this happens then you can ride your bikes on the boardwalk, but in peak season the boardwalk is jammed with people, kids,etc so you have to ride your bikes on the marked paths.Pedestrians have to stay off the bike paths in the peak season time frame.
also the boardwalk is well lite at night for nighttime strolling.
