Springhill Suites or Raddison in Chantilly, Va?

by Fyrecat1

Wondering if anyone has stayed there or knows anything about them? My husband and I are planning a weekend trip, and these places have affordable rates.

These are both near Dulles Airport, I have stayed at Springhill Suites and was fine. You might like to check Hotwire and state near Dulles, I got the Hyatt near the airport fot $69.00 just a month ago. They do not give the names before you buy but anything with 3.5 starts or better near Dulles will be fine

Travel Tips for Washington

Soccer in DC?!

by jetsetterforever

Yes it is commonly known that soccer has not caught on in the states with the same intensity as the rest of the globe. However,
DC United has won a series of MLS championships and has recently signed on 14-year-old wonderboy Freddie Adu.

While it may not have the following and intensity of European and South American clubs, DC United is as good at it gets in the states.

Tickets can be purchased for as low as $16.

Great Falls Park

by percy961

Great Falls Park, a site that is part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, is an 800 acre park located along the Potomac River 14 miles upriver from Washington D.C. The park is known for two things, its scenic beauty at the head of Potomac River fall line and the historic Patowmack Canal.

Arlington Cemetery

by Suet

We took a Tourmobile (cost $20 each for the day), up to Arlington Cemetery (don't eat or drink on the bus) which I found terribly sad. All those young people… all those gravestones… People are still buried here, having served their country, they have all the people from the Challenger that died on take off..

It's a profoundly moving experience. I cried.

The Capitol Building

by Suet

Apparently they built this the wrong way round when they were designing the city, eh what the hell, it looks pretty good..... although they seem to have nicked the design from Sir Christopher Wren (St Paul's Cathedral, London). We didn't go in due to time constraints, but there was a chance to talk to a rather nice policeman about which direction to go in next.
