More about Lexington George Washington Inn

A OK

We used the Lexington George Washington Inn as home base for us as we spent several days at Bush Gardens. The hotel is easily located between the amusement parks and the historic sites around town. We found the hotel to be very clean inside despite some outside renovations going on. The staff was second to none, and was always very interested in how our day was and how we were finding our way around the city. The staff was also very willing and able to make sure we had every thing we needed at any hour of the day or night. The pool area was very nice. The free wireless internet made connecting a breeze. One would be also be happy to know that the Farm Fresh across the street has a Star Bucks in it. Save a few bucks and stay at the Lexington George Washington Inn. We will be back.

Great Hospitality

I very rarely write reviews about hotels, but my family and I felt the need to share our experience at The Lexington George Washington Inn. While the overall look of the hotel needs revamping, We received better service at this hotel than we have ever received at the bigger chains. The lobby area is gorgeous, and the pool was perfect for my family. We were traveling on a budget this year, and the cost was very affordable. The front desk staff was particulary knowledgeable about the area. While there was nothing spectacular about the hotel, the level of service did stand out. My room was clean, and we were not inconvenienced by the construction, even though they were in plain sight. Overall, we would stay there again...Not for the look of the hotel, but because we felt very comfortable there.

Disgusting Hotel - DO NOT STAY!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member AColoRose

Alright, I am not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. The George Washington Inn is HIDEOUS!!! The construction outside is terrible, in fact the whole front side was boarded up when we stayed. Upon entering, the lobby is nice - it recently was renovated. Beyond the lobby - beware. One elevator looked as if there was blood splattered on it. Our room had a huge hole in the carpet that was poorly patched. The remaining carpet was stained as were the walls and the furniture. Our view was of a pile of construction materials which included a little bit of sand - we called it our beach just to somewhat make light of the situation. The bathroom had a q tip stuck behind the facuet that had been there forever - it almost looked as if it was a part of the counter. It had been used - very disgusting... The decor was beyond dated. The entire Inn had an odd smell to it. Many doors and walls had holes in them. Seriously, I can't think of one thing that was positive besides the staff who were friendly - but it seemed more in a brown nosing sort of way... DO NOT STAY HERE!!! You can find better roach motels... I am currently in the process of disputing our bill and trying to get some sort of compensation... Four nights there, and nothing positive... That should say enough.

Nice stay, but...

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights on our trip to Busch Gardens and Water Country. I researched this hotel quite a bit prior to booking b/c of the great deal/ price I found on their website, including looking at Trip Advisor reviews. We arrived late at night on a Friday. As somebody else mentioned the outside of the hotel was very dark and uninviting. We even had trouble seeing from the street b/c their signage was not turned on. Once you stepped through the doors and into the lobby that completely changed. The lobby area and front desk have been recently renovated and looked beautiful. The check in was quick and the front desk clerk, James, was very pleasant and helpful. Walking to our room I noticed that not everything in the hotel has been renovated. The inside of the elevator is very dated as are the hall light fixtures, the carpet on the halls, drop ceiling, etc. The room on the other hand looked like it had been recently renovated. Fresh paint, granite countertops and granite shower surround, new beds etc... Also the room was very spacious, and also had a microwave and mini fridge.

Having said this, I did walk around the halls at night as I was curious as to the overall look/ extent of the renovations. All hallways still need a lot of work. Dirty walls, carpet, dated light fixtures, doors that were not locked properly; I even saw a door to a room that had a hole where the knob should be. You could see right into the room, lights were on and air conditioning running, which I found very peculiar.

I must say the hotel staff was exceptional. Everybody was friendly and very helpful. The level of customer service is unlike any other hotel I've stayed at, even the much bigger chains. James, Andre, PJ and Daryl are worth mentioning and although there were some credit card/ billing issues which were the hotel's fault and put a bit of a damper on our vacation I am willing to overlook that based on the overall experience.

Clean, Comfortable and Close to Everything

Very nice property. They are in the process of renovating, so some rooms may not be completely redone. The lobby is beautiful, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will visit again when we return to Williamsburg. Special person: Andrei.

We Loved this Hotel and WILL BE BACK!!!

I have to disagree with the negative reviews of this hotel! I knew that the hotel was under renovations and that the rooms had yet to be updated (the plan is to update the rooms in the Fall of 2008 according to hotel staff) However, you cannot beat the rate for this hotel, I paid $70 a night for five nights. I was not looking for a five star hotel, I wanted to be close to Bush Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg and Water Country USA. This hotel has all of the amenities that my family of four needed, a pool for our four year old twins, laundry facilities for me and a coffee shop to escape too (the bar and restaurant were to be opened right after we checked out) As for the reviewer that wrote about the boraded up front entrance, yes it was boarded up but before our stay ended the boards came down and a beautiful stone facade was added to enhance the entrance way. If you are looking for a clean, fabulously priced hotel with a grocery store, liquor store and restaurants located right across the street this hotel is for you.

I also have to commend the staff for doing such a wonderful job, I have yet to stay at a hotel where the staff goes above and beyond the call of duty. My family was on the second leg of our vacation (we had left Myrtle Beach to finish our vacation in Williamsburg) we checked in tired and grouchy from the long drive. I had already spoken to Andre, the front desk manager, weeks ago to book our room and to make sure that this hotel was not "a roach hotel". As we strolled into the lobby and walked to the front desk we were greeted by name by Andre himself! My husband and I were hoping to get an upgrade since we had just left a condo and were trying to figure out how we could stay five nights in a two queen room with our four year old twins! Andre did us one better he offered us two rooms that were adjoining , with two queens in each room for the price of one! (we only paid our $70 a night rate for two rooms) What hotel would ever do this?

Yes, the rooms are dated but they are very clean and the washrooms are new, the beds are new and the housekeeping terrific!

I would like to thank the Lexington for a memorable vacation we had travelled from Ontario, Canada for our first family vacation and it was the best! When this hotel is finished renovating it will be top notch! I only hope I will still get my fabulous rate because once you've had two rooms it's hard to go back!!!

Thank you again Andre and Lexington Staff! Keep up the fabulous work!

If you don't care about every little thing

My husband and I stayed at the Lexington Inn about a week ago. I had read on tripadvisor that they were undergoing renovations still. Most of the renovations were complete though when we stayed there. The outside parking area at night time, as others had mentioned, wasn't very inviting. There wasn't much lighting, but it was run down or anything. It still felt safe, and they always had a ton of cars in the parking lot at night time. The lobby was beautiful, they are doing construction on the resturant area in the front of the lobby, but that isn't an issue. The people at the desk were very helpful, and inviting! I have to say they were more friendly then some of the better places I've stayed. We checked into our room, and I started checking the room out. The beds weren't the most comfortable I've ever slept on, but don't base your choice off of that because everyone slepts differently. The room itself was clean, wasn't the best looking, but no reason for us not to enjoy our stay. The bathroom on the other hand was a little nasty (I only say nasty because I can't think of a lesser word), there was a stain in the tub, and when I put my hand on the door I thought that i felt like a gooey feeling. For some reason I had a problem letting my bare feet touch the ground in the bathroom, because I felt like it wasn't cleaned very well. Overall, it was great. They need to update the rooms, but other then that it was a great location!

i advise u not to stay here well when i first saw the lobby it looked so nice but upon entering my room i saw it looked nothing like what i booked some of the lights did not work. th elevators took so long to just come down that we took the steps all the way to the third floor.......the jacuzzi was not working it just felt like a hot bath tub. the pool was pretty good. THE MOST DISGUSTING THING WAS WE SAW ROACHES A SMALL ONE IN OUR ROOM AND A REALLY BIG ONE IN THE HALLWAY....... the staff was really nice and the construction was not noticable.........but there was kids running around because there was 4 FAMILY REUNIONS going on loud music then we were forced to go to our room becuase they thought my family belonged with them....
i had fun while there but it is really dirty and needs an upgrade...one good thing is it is walking distance to cvs and best store ever WAWA.........

Get me out of here

Where do I start-when arriving after a 15 hour car ride we needed some sleep. They had late check in. So we asked if we could check in early to get some sleep. Paying for it was fine. They claimed they had no availability with a poor attitude. When we finally got there, our room was not available and discover that they did in fact have a room available earlier. The hotel smelled horrible and looked dirty (except for the fifth floor were we were thank god). FYI-the pictures of the hotel certainly do not reflect the actual hotel-beware. They put us in a different room. The second day we requested another room and finally got a decent smelling room. The first three nights were unbearable. The air conditioner in our room was definately broken. We complained everyday and finally on the fourth day it was replaced. The bathroom was very disgusting. The toilet looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. The fridge had an open jar of babyfood and an open pepsi can from previous guests. It had been there for a while. My husband said it had chunks. The tv remote was missing and when we requested one it only worked for one day. We were locked out of the hotel and our card had to be recoded. Then finally on the last night of our vacation, my husband got the pleasure of killing an unwanted room guest, you guessed it, a roach. So I got to spend the remainder of my night checking my luggage for stow-aways. Then my daughter brings in the blanket they were sleeping with which had brown stuff across the middle of it. I was not impressed by much with this hotel. Not a clean hotel at all. There is no extras in this hotel at all. No breakfast, barely any coffee. Not that I would have ate there anyway. We got two single cups of coffee and thats it. The jacuzzi was broken. It was like sitting in a public bathtub. The one and only good thing I can say about this is the managers are very cooperative in satisfying their guests and are very pleasant to talk to. The hotel is in a convenient location to the amusement parks and thats about it. Thank god for the Wawa down the street.

Worst Hotel EVER

by TripAdvisor Member VirginiaOhana

Let me first tell you that this hotel was recommed by a very good friend of mine. Now that I have told her about my stay she feels bad for telling me to stay here. I was to start by saying the staff was not very helpful at all to say the least. Once my family and I arrived at the hotel we drove around the building to get to our room and the door didn't open with our key. The celing in the hall was caving in like it was about to fall and the smell in the hall was horrible. Once we where in our room the smell was even stronger. The room was redone but, the room next to ours didn't even had a door handle and was being redone. We went down to the pool which is one reason we decided to stay here and it was closed due to chemicals being added. The pool was green from the mold. When we asked the front desk why the pool was green they said it was from the chemicals. My husband and I have been around pools all our life and have never seen green chemicals. Then we get back to our room to see a vistor (Spider on the pillow) I was furious by this point. I went to the desk to get another room and that room at roaches in it. By this time it was late in the evening and both my boys where getting tired and hungry. I asked for the manger and told him to find me another hotel to stay in with my family and he said here is a list of hotels in the area you try and get a room. On top of it all I had taken pictures of the bugs and asked the manager if he wanted to see them and he said no thanks. Not a very good manger in my opinion. We finally took our boys and drove additional hour south to VA Beach where we meet family and stayed the weekend. My family and I are very disappointed in this hotel. The hotel is not child friendly by all means espically if you have infants and toddlers. I wouldn't even put my infant on the floor knowing there where spiders in the room.
