Beautiful, quiet resort

We had a wonderful stay at the Manor Club. The two bedroom/two bathroom "villa" (more like a condo) we rented was clean and very spacious, and fully equipped (dishwasher, VCR...). We also enjoyed eating breakfast out on the balcony and having a late-night drink in front of the fireplace!

The Manor Club is located a short drive away from Colonial Williamsburg - you'll enjoy getting away from all the tourists to spend an evening walking around the quiet streets of Ford's Colony (you can get a map of the walking paths at the main building).

Unique Quality: There is a tourist office in the main building where you can go if you need help planning a visit. There's also a little market where you can buy food, wine and rent movies.

There are two swimming pools, four tennis courts, and there's a 54 hole golf course nearby.

Everyday, there are different activities going on at the Manor Club ranging from wine tasting to a day-trip to Washington.

Marriott Manor Club

Wonderful...

Marriott Manor Club

Wonderful timeshare resort, and although we were there on a promotional offer given to us by Marriott, we were not hassled at all to buy, which made our vacation just that much more enjoyable!!!! The 1 bedroom villas are lovely! Our villa was decorated with semi-colonial, and modern furnishings.
There was a full kitchen, washer/dryer, full size bath with whirlpool tub, and baclony overlooking the woods..Very Nice!!! Great pools, beautiful setting, with golf courses nearby...The homes that sit in and around the resort, are to die for!!!

Fabulous Resort!!

Our family loved Marriott's Manor Club. Our two bedroom unit was huge and very clean. The grounds were beautiful. Wonderful activities. Great walking or bicycle trail. A short drive to Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg. Near grocery and restaurants. We would definitely go to manor club again.

Great Room, Poor Facilities

by TripAdvisor Member em5555

We just returned from a weekend at Fords Colony. Here's what we thought:

What we liked:

We had a two bedroom suite in the older part of the hotel. It was spacious, pretty well updated (although you could tell they had skimped on some things like they replaced the cabinets in the bathroom but not the really old tile on the floor and walls), had a great kitchen and overall very nice.

The quiet - the suites are laid out such that the bedrooms are in the outside corners so it was amazingly quite both nights which we really appreciated being light sleepers.

The area - very attractive. We did a 3 mile walk around the area which we really enjoyed.

Service - we found the desk service to be above average. When we had a problem with the jacuzzi tub (very nice), someone came to fix it within 10 minutes.

What we did Not Like:

Check out time is at 10 am. We had to beg them to let us stay until 11 am. Checkout, however, is not until 4 pm.

The workout facility - tiny, poorly equipped, not at all pleasant.

The pool - small and run down - the indoor was better than the outdoor but neither were anything special.

The overall feel of the facilities - with the exception of the room itself - was just a bit run down and not up to Marriott standards.

Very nice place, almost purchased a timeshare!

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Manor Club in 2001, and we had a very time. We started out in Virgina Beach, (overnight) and stayed at the Manor Club for 3 nights. It was a promotional package offered by the Marriott, so we knew that we had to sit for the 90 minute timeshare speech, but we were pleasantly surprised at how things went. No hassles, no pressure, and we able to enjoy our trip. We were very impressed the accomodations. Colonial style furnishings, very clean villa, with adequate space for a couple or family. The staff was very pleasant, and although we were centrally located to all the activities in Williamsburg, the Manor Club is a upscale residential neighborhood with that puts you far enough way from traffic and noise, but very convenient to what the town has to offer. We were close to purchasing a timeshare, but decided to wait. We will definitely return here again soon.

Better than previous reviews

Stayed at the resort in Feb 05, having previously read previous reviewers reports.

It is clear that the road system on the approach to the resort has been modified recently, but the road surface is now perfect. Beware the circle/roundabout just before the resort if you are not used to them!

Having taken particular note of the attitudes of the staff, I am pleased to report that all of the were all extremely pleasant and very helpful. They were certainly up to the high Marriott standards.

In keeping with MVCI's policy of maintaining the condition of the resort at a high standard, the outside swimming pools are closed for refurbishment. But I am sure that they will be in perfect working order for the summer.

All in all, a high standard MVCI resort - even in the depths of winter.

Very nice

This was a very pretty, mostly well-kept golf resort. Not too far from historic Williamsburg, it offered a quiet get-away and the staff was very, very friendly. We liked the room (extremely clean and well-decorated) and the amenities were quite good. The game room was a real nice thing for the kids, and not too expensive. The two pool tables were great. Only negative was the indoor pool area - the tile on the deck was incredibly slippery (think regular tiled kitchen floor soaking wet) and the railing to get into the pool was completely detached. The pool was too cold and the jacuzzi too hot on the first day of arrival, but they fixed that the next day. Check out the bike trails - they are beautiful!

5 Star Disappointment

The Ford Colony has an impressive exterior. We had a 2 bedroom villa with a fireplace and kitchen. The maintence of the building needs work. The towels that were given to us had holes. The top sheet used to make the bed in the master bedroom was worn and had a hole. The carpet was stained. The stools under the counter had stained fabric. The Spa isn't full service. The air conditioner didn't work and the dishwasher leaked. I really wasted time and money traveling. I was totally disappointed with the Marriott Ford Colony.Corporate Management really needs to tour it facilities.

My husband and I vacationed in Williamsburg Virginia last summer...Although it was extremely hot (what else, for August), we had a good time....We stayed at the Marriott Manor Club, (which was by far one of the best places we have ever stayed)...We visited Colonial Williamsburg (in my opinion, very boring), Jamestown Plantation (very nice), and Busch Gardens (nice), among other places....Before arriving in Williamsburg, we spent one night in Virgina Beach, and although the beach was very clean, and nice, it just was not our kind of town....To commerical, t-shirt shops everywhere, etc...however, we will visit Williamsburg again....
