Low budget accommodation!

Thanks to Nat I wasn't obliged to look for any accommodation in Williamsburg, but anyway, I was looking for my possible accommodation before my arrival.

WITH DISCOUNT COUPONS
I took 3 leaflets, discount guides with hotel coupons in Virginia when I stopped at Fredericksburg Virginia Welcome Center located by I-95 (between exit 126 and 118) on my way from Washington D.C. to Richmond. These books (on my picture) were available in all Virginia Welcome Centers (map: here) and official Virginia tourist information offices. Even at night they were usually put in a box in front of closed doors of the Welcome Center.

WITHOUT COUPONS AND IN ADVANCE
Are you looking for an accommodation in advance and want to book it?
1. Look at VT page on accommodations and hotels in Williamsburg here.
Read reviews (esp. the latest) of others VT-ers and use Find Hotel Deals tool.
2. use Priceline.com to find a good deal (it's blind, last minute hotel search engine and booking online page with unbelievable good discounts).

Keep in mind that when you book a room by phone you must give your credit card number by phone (security?). When you do it online you use secure internet connection. Usually you are allowed to cancell your reservation till 5.00 or 6.00 pm.

TO BOOK OR NOT TO BOOK?
Well, I think it's necessary to book a room in Williamsburg in advance (it's very touristy place) especially in weekends.

Unique Quality: For 1-2 nights I would choose Travelodge. Why? Because Williamsburg is expensive place, so I would like to save on accommodation there. This hotel was the least expensive in my coupon book: $24.95 (add 4.5% Virginia sales tax - valid till 15 Feb 2005) for 1-2 people on Sun - Thu with a coupon shown at check-in.

Other pro's:
1. free continental breakfast,
2. micro/fridge and non-smoking rooms available,
3. coffe maker, iron board, hair dryer
4. outdoor swimming pool,
5. digital safe
6. kids under 17 stay free.

Con's:
Hmm... I don't know, not all (but most) Travelodge motels I slept were of enough good quality (just for sleeping). If you are not satisfied there are other motels on the same street futher south: Red Roof Inns at # 824 ($34.99 Sun-Thu; 44.99 Fri & Sat for 1-2 people), Colonel Waller Inn & Suites at #917 ($29.00 Sun-Thu, 1-4 people), Country Hearth Inn & Suites at #924 ($29.95 Sun - Thu 1-2 people). All the above with a coupon shown at check-in and all served continental breakfast.

  • Opinion of Price: least expensive
