Nelson House by bugalugs
Thomas Nelson Jr (Grandson of the above) also lived here. He was born on 26th December 1738 and was educated in England. He married a Lucy Grymes and they had 11 children. He was a very prominent businessman and a delegate to Congress in Philadelphia, where he signed the declaration for Independance.The house was hit by cannon balls during the battle for independance and you can see a couple still stuck in the walls of the house.
The Nelson's lived in this house until 1907. It was acquired by the National Park Service in 1968 and was restored.
The house is of Georgian architecture and is open to the public.
Open daily 10-4.30 summer
1-4 pm rest of year.
This is a copy of the Declaration of Independance signed by Thomas Nelson Jr and Thomas Jefferson, it is in the Nelson House.
