As mentioned the rooms were nicely decorated mostly antique furniture...I stayed in the Barnett-Aden room...third floor that was nice and bright...and a washroom close by.There are two floors ,three rooms on each floor, each floor had washrooms that were shared by all of the guests. Most nights it was close to full occupancy but there were no issues with sharing the washroom.
The staff were for pretty accomodating and asked every evening how the day had been and what it was that I had been doing.
They have an assortment of maps and books and literature about things to do in and around Washington.
The Bloomingdale is situated just a little bit North of the Capital Building...just off of North Capital Street ...and there was Public Transit that went North and South into and out of the downtown core. The bus stop was about a five minute walk from the Bloomingdale.I used the bus every day to go to Union Station where I would start and finnish my day, either catching the Metro here if I was travelling distances or hooking up with the "Tourmobile"which I used one day to get a general feel for the city.In fact "Tourmoblie" was the only means other than walking or taxi that would get me close to some of the Memorials without a long walk!Other days I would start my own "walking tour" of the Mall area getting off the bus close to Union Station.
The neighborhood that the Bloomingdale is situated in is for the most part ok but there were some sections of some neighborhoods close by that I would not want to be out and about in when it was dark.
