More about Georgetown Suites

Fantastic Experience at Georgetown Suites!

by TripAdvisor Member TravelHaven

My son-in-law had a conference in DC in June and we decided to make it a family vacation. I'm originally from Maryland and knew I wanted to stay in Georgetown so used Trip Advisor to find Georgetown Suites. It was fantastic! The rooms are a little worn, but very clean and it was nice to have a kitchen. The rooms are spacious. The two-bedroom suite for my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters (age 12 and 14) was huge! And the staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was nice too. Georgetown is still as fun as I remembered, even though the Metro is about 8 blocks away. The walk wasn't bad. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again!

Nice Location

by TripAdvisor Member Haddo

The Georgetown Suites were well equipped and comfortable in a very picturesque area of Washington. Good local restaurants with good connections via public transport into downtown Washington. The photographs on the hotel website give a rather better impression of the hotel than real life. However, overall a good place to stay in Washington

we loved this place

by TripAdvisor Member piper13

We loved this place when we saw our rooms we thought they had made a mistake. Our suite was just that a suite of roomy place plus our own kitchen and much more. We had just been to New York from a room that was cramped barely space to turn around and here we were in rooms for much less. What we really appreciated was the staff and service friendly and soo very helpful we took home pictures of them for pleasant memories. Location was great and Georgetown is safe and full of wonderful restaurants and unique shops. This place is a winner.

Great value, great location

by TripAdvisor Member attractiveprof

I can only agree with the previous reviewers.

The big +++:

Location in Georgetown, near circulator bus line (but not metro)
Well equipped, spacious room
Price hard to beat
Good coffee and free breakfast
Helpful and efficient staff
Free wireless and troublefree internet
Nice touches (toiletries, daily paper)

The few minuses (didn't really matter to us):

Carpet stains
Workout facility hard to get to and some equipment broken
Slow elevators cause waiting
Matress needs overhaul

Fantastic place to stay...great location!

We were 3 couples staying in a suite. The room was excellent. Spacious and well-appointed. We had 2 bedrooms plus a pull-out in the living room. The pullout was uncomfortable & had a spring missing- a bit unexpected for such a nice place. They brought in 2 rollaways the next night which were much better & more comfortable. The continental breakfast was great- very 'bready' but held us over until lunch.

The location is ideal. You are about 2 blocks from the waterfront- a great place to stroll, eat or have a drink. It was beautiful. You are 1/2 block from the main strip in Georgetown with lots of great shops & restaurants from which to choose. I would recommend the Paper Moon for a delicious Italian meal. The hotel gave us the name of a tour to take- "Zohery Tours". It was pretty bad. We were picked up 40 min. late and they drove us to the 1st stop of the tour to catch up. The driver seemed rushed and we felt that he did not give us enough info about each stop before he let us off. I would not recommend this particular tour. But the hotel was great and I would highly recommend it, especially if you are a group traveling together.

Also- while in DC we discovered the "Circle Line" buses. They take you to the mall (where all the museums are located), Chinatown (which is no more than 1 block with lousy, expensive Chinese restaurants) and other places. It only costs $1 to ride it and there is a stop about 1 block from the hotel.

Wonderful value

Very good location. Close to buses (which can take you to the subway) which go east and south to the National Mall and north to the National Cathedral. Full kitchen in every room (that's a full-sized stove with oven, full-sized refrigerator with ice-maker, dishwasher, disposal, microwave and toaster!) There's also a complimentary continental breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff, although housekeeping was a little confused. They ask you, as many hotels do these days, to put the towels you want washed on the floor and hang up the ones you don't need to have washed. Our maid had a habit of taking the towel on the floor and not replacing it--she also often took all the towels--even those not on the floor--without replacing them. We had to call the desk twice to have towels brought up. It's a neighborhood place and gives you a feeling of really being in Georgetown--and the Four Seasons is two blocks away and I'm sure MUCH more expensive. You can get decent deals by going to the hotel's website. Just one caution, though--DON'T GO TO DC IN THE SUMMER!

Nice hotel in fun area with girlfriend

by dev123lv

Hi, we'll be out for a weekend and thought we catch a baseball game one night and a nice dinner and drinks with modest nightlife the next...any specific hotel suggestions in Georgetown or Dupont Circle if price weren't a concern and you could stay anywhere? Restaurants? Bars?

Have been travelling to DC the past 2 years to drive my daughter to and from College. Best - reasonable priced hotel is the KEY MARRIOT just over the Key bridge from M street and Georgetown. $109 per night. There is NO Metro stop in Georgetown - but there is one near the Key MArriot, There is a $1 bus every 15 minutes from the hotel over the bridge but frankly - at this time of year - it is a very little bridge and a lovely wlak over the Potomac. Easy to garage a car at the MArriot too. M street is the center of Georgetown. For triple the price you could try the Georgetown Inn. I have also stayed at the Holiday Inn on Wisconsin. Definitely prefer the MArriot for multiple reasons.

A great hotel with bar in the Dupont Circle area is the Hotel Palomar. A more luxury hotel in this area is the Mayflower hotel. The newest hotel that just opened in March is the Dupont Hotel and I highly recommend this hotel. It is right by the Dupont Circle metro stop. Dupont Circle is a great area especially for nightlife and restaurants. To go to Georgetown, you can always take the Metro or the Circulator which is the bus with the $1 fare. The Circulator has many routes (Smithsonian, Union Station-Georgetown, etc.) Go to dccirculator.com for fares, routes, schedules, etc. A hotel that is a luxury hotel but unique is the Park Hyatt. I would also check out the Renaissance M Street because of its modern flare.
I hope these recommendations help!

For a great deal on a lot of DC hotels, check out this site, http://reservations.washington.org/3414_lodging.html. Washington.org is currently running their Staying Power packages. You save 30% when you stay 3 nights as long as a Thursday or Sunday stay is included in your stay. The Hotel Palomar which I mentioned is running this promotion. I would check it out.

Money no concern? Then I'd stay in Georgetown, eat at Michel Richard's restaurant "Citronelle", but you do need reservations as he is a world renowned Chef, then walk down to the Harbor and get drinks at the outside bar at "Sequoia's", which is on the Potomac, and watch the boats, as well as the people come and go. Chill-laxin'. ~
