Great Value for family of 4

Arrive end of July 2004. Hotel is clean, large room fit a rolloway bed. Friendly staff at the reception. Location are great, walking distance to Smithsonian Space Museum. Parking price are resonable and you have excess to your car which we did most of our driving at night where parking are free.
You have access to a computer free of charge at the lobby. I do not recommend eating breakfast at the hotel. It's expensive and unfriendly staff. Go across the hotel there is a Bakery..good inexpensive food.
Good lunch food will be the food court (awesome selections) at Ronald Regan Building.
On Thursday, the hotel have karoeke night....a must see. The regulars customer (local hangout) sang beautifully.
Back to the hotel, we will definitely stay there again for the location, cleanlines, service and the rates.
Very Pleased

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly at this hotel, front desk and gift shop staff very cordial and helpful with questions we had about how to get around ( Old Town Trolley is great, and stopped at the hotel!), and where to eat and shop. Many of the attractions in DC are within walking distance. Our room appeared recently renovated, clean and attractive, and we will surely stay there again!
Tripadvisor provided us with the best price, a weekend ,8/20-21, at 88.99 per night. Thanks, Tripadvisor!
Awesome place to stay

I stayed here for 3 nights in Sept. 2004. It is close to everything, metro, museums, Capitol. Upon check-in I showed my HI priority card and got coupons which were redeemable in the hotel restaurant ($2 off breakfast buffett) and free Starbucks coffee from either the restaurant or the Express Deli-Bar. They also provided a list of restaurants in the area, which were within a mile walking distance. There are not a lot (if any) stand alone restaurants in the area, so that was nice. They also have a "store" in the hotel that sells cokes and other snack and travel essentials. There is a CVS and McDonald's only a block or so away also. We parked on the day we arrived and didn't drive again until we checked out. We either walked, took the metro (1 street over) or grabbed a tour bus on the mall (only 2 streets away). We had breakfast off the menu in the restaurant (Smithson's). It was average. The express-deli bar is the way to go for people on the go. It has pastries, but they also have hot items like biscuit sandwiches, etc. (McDonald's style).
The lobby is currently being renovated to make a new entrance. We hardly noticed any dust or workers. The rooms were above average (6 pillows & not flat, a bonus) and clean. This is a well run hotel. As for service, it was above-average. An example: one night our neighbor had his TV up so loud it woke us up at 3:00am (coming through the walls!). I called the front desk and they sent security up but could not rouse our neighbor from his deep sleep (we turned the A/C on to drown him out). The next night at 10:00pm his TV was just as loud. We immediately called the front desk who sent security up and was able to get our neighbor to turn his TV off. They did their job and besides it wasn't their fault the guy was a deep sleeper on the first night!
I would definitely recommend staying here in the future to anyone traveling to D.C.
Good location and friendly but otherwise disappointing

Stayed here Sept. 5-8,2004 with husband and 3 young children. On the positive side check-in was quick, there was a life-guard for the rooftop pool,Red Trolley tours stopped regularly at the door, many sights were walking distance, rooms were clean and staff friendly. On the downside, the food at Smithson's Restaurant at the hotel was WELL below average(bland, overpriced ),the lobby was being renovated(still) and was dusty and noisy, our toilet broke down and flooded twice in 3 days, there was little closet or other space for a family of 5(couple or max. 4 people probably ideal) and there are minimal local dining options. Overall JUST o.k.
Clean & Convenient!

We stayed here 10/15/04 to 10/19/04. This property is within easy walking distance to the L'Enfant metro station(1.0 block) and the Mall (1.5-2.0 blocks). Construction is on-going, but wasn't a problem. Request a room facing the inner courtyard when making reservations(talk with the reservations desk, don't rely on e-mail contact). There is a rail line to the immediate south of the hotel and it can be heard even in rooms facing the courtyard, but wasn't a problem. Our room(4th floor) was very-very clean and nicely decorated as were the corridors, lobby. Check in/out was professional and quick. My only complaint was that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. This location worked well for my family of four on our sight-seeing vacation. Local dining- check out the "Vie De France" in the Capitol Gallery Bldg just west and across the street from the hotel - great service from the manager & great food @ a reasonable price. Also, the Quizno's sub shop to east on the same street as the hotel gave us great service with a smile. McDonalds at the end of this block. All these were priced like @ home. This is not so for food courts located in the museums & government buildings on the Mall - look to pay inflated prices to eat there. CVS drugstore located next door to the hotel on the east side is great for almost anything you may need from camera batteries to snacks/groceries/medicine. Also, we rented a car @ Dulles, drove in and dropped luggage and returned the car to Union Station(rental return - enter on "H" Street north of Postal Museum) and rode the metro back to the hotel to avoid parking fees ($18 daily) and car rental for the three days. My opinion, the city has limited parking($$) and is more easily navigated utilizing the Metro system's trains/buses. The hotel's neighborhood was clean and we felt safe walking even at late hours. Most all buildings had visible security guards present at street level and Metro & Capitol police were everywhere. We had a great time and would stay here again.
Excellent Experience!

By far, this was the nicest "regular" hotel I've ever stayed at, and I have traveled a lot on business and for pleasure. The lobby and rooms had just been renovated so everything was sparkling clean and new. The beds and pillows were great, and we could not have asked for a better location. Easily within walking distance of the Air and Space Musuem, the Indian Museum, and the Capitol. And, there is a McDonalds (better than the onsite restaurant for quick and inexpensive breakfast), Quiznos, and CVS pharmacy within the block. The staff was ok, but especially nice and helpful was the bellman. This hotel was recommended to us by our Congressman's office, and I would highly recommend it to anyone on business or pleasure! For sure, will stay here when visiting DC in the future!
Very pleasant stay

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights on the recommendation of friends (and Tripadvisor!) and were quite pleased with it. It was attractively decorated and very convenient -- many of the Smithsonian museums are just a few blocks away, and the Capitol is also very nearby. A Metro station is just two blocks away, which was nice. The only place we really wanted to go that we couldn't take the Metro to was the far end of the Mall (Lincoln Memorial and such), which we ended up taking a cab to.
Our room was pleasant, and the food in the restaurant was good, if not spectacular. Service was also very good. There was some construction going on, but I heard no noise whatsoever.
