If you are visiting DC, this hotel is in a great location. It is in walking distants of most memorials, the Capital building is right around the corner. And there is a subway station within a blocks walk.
I did not care for there buffet. But I was there to see the town.
Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol: Good location: Bad food

They did correct the error in our room reservations. Beds were comfortable; rooms quiet. Staff was helpful.
Location is great for the "traditional" tourist site-seeing spots. Good if you have younger children or aging adults than need a rest break, in the afternoon.
Food was not very good. Did do the breakfast buffet ($12) adults and supper buffet ($15) once.
On the same block as the hotel, a McDonald's (cheap breakfasts); CVS drug store (cheap snacks, pop, milk, disposable plastic dishes, bandages); Deli. Did do milk and cold cereal in our room the morning we had a 7:30 AM tour.
Jewel of the trip was "Vie de France".(600 Maryland) Bakery is to die for. Also has a new expanded cafe.
Do sign up for for special Holiday Inn travelers bonus. From the concierge- free coffee tickets, $2 coupons off buffet; $3 local phone calls.
Got a great deal through Washington Tourism/Convention Office- "Summer FREEdom rates". We got free paid parking ($20/day)
Did learn to use the Metro system fairly well. (A bit more daunting for handicapp but can be done.) All day pass- cheap travel- $6.
Rooftop pool (seasonal), Underground parking, Hi-speed internet access in rooms.
