The JW Marriott on Pennsylvania Avenue. by seamandrew Perfect Location. It's right on Pennsylvania and a 5 minute walk from the White House and 10 minutes from the Washington Monument. Ask for a room on the 14th or 15th floor with a city view. You will not be disappointed. We had a view of the Washington Monument!
Location, Location, Location!!! Beautiful lobby and friendly staff! Just a block or two from the White House.

I've stayed in both the JW Marriot in downtown Washington, and the Crystal City, VA Marriot. Both are conveniently located (JW is three blocks from the White House, the Crystal City is on the Metro subway line). Both have excellent amenities and superb accomodations and restaurants. I didn't have to pay ;) Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than average

by davequ I always try to stay here if I can. Not cheap but not the most expensive either. Excellent location right by the White House and a quick walk to restaurants or the Mall / memorials & monuments. Good bar, good food. If possible, plan way in advance and use any type of discount (AAA, Priceline, AARP, anything) you can get good deals on rates for what I think is one of the better medium pricerange hotels in DC.
Great location; one of the more "high-end" Marriotts with lots of amenities. Try to get a south / mall-facing room on a high floor.

all about the hotel by gordonilla The stay at the hotel was pleasant, and it was not through chocic, rather availability that a colleague and I stayed at this particular marriott Hotel. It was the height of the 2004 Presidential Election campaign and we had several meetings to attend. The rooms and facilities where good and security at the hotel was tight and very obvious. The hotel offers a range of eateries and bars to the guests. In addition there is a business centre, a gift shop (Ye Gift Shoppe i think it is called), health club, meeting rooms, safety deposit boxes and various other traditional hotel services.
location is probably about as unique as it gets - or am I just a little to demanding of hotels? Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averagePhone: 00 1 202 393 2000

During a family vacation in January I booked two standard rooms at the JW Marriot on Pennslyania Ave. mostly because it was nice and centrally located. It was pricey but excluded the costs of cabs and parking issues as well as hunting for restaurants and navigational issues around town. Normally alone I painstakingly figure everything out to the least dollar which is time consuming and a little stressful but when with grandma, sister, and a 12 and 6 year old I can't afford that. My family and I were able to walk to all the major locations including the White House at only 2 blocks away. We did not over stress our kids with crazy amounts of site seeing because it was all walking distance. I chose this place also because it has a nice restaurant and lounge as well so we all had a great mid to upper scale family dinner that was contempary American fare but familiar with children and then when the kids were in bed my sister and I had a nice evening in the lounge with some wine without having to leave the kids with grandma and taking a cab. Rates are spendy, sometimes $200 plus, it's Washington DC and the extra care free incentives are worth it in some cases. NOTE: Hotel lobby will undergo renovations from June 25th 2007 - October 1st, 2007. This will include scaffolding. All hotel services will be available during this time. The terrace is reserved for only gold or whatever special desination a guest may have :-( Aren't the children special... believe me I asked because they really wanted to see the city skyline. If you book through the hotel often there is a kids eat free promotion, ask when booking through Marriot. If a booking agency advertises this they may be falsely advertising whether it be offered through say hotels.com, the fine print will clarify that it is offered only through the hotel directly. This can save a lot of money if and when you have children that eat 3 square meals a day and has pulled guests to booking through online booking agencies based on that option often times with disapointment.
Class and quality, service is standard but not exceeding. Beds are really plush and comfortable. Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensivePhone: 1-202-393-2000Directions: Practically on the White House Lawn in the center of DCWebsite: www.marriot.com
