great price for the location

For about $110 per day it was a great value because of the location, there are cheaper options but we wanted to be in walking distance from The Mall. 5' walk from The Mall it was ideal for us to visit the memorials and the museums. There is a metro station 2 blocks away.

The check in was fast by non smiling people but the other days was a very friendly lady at the front desk.

The room was big and clean and we had clean towels every day. The safety box was very useful and we could lock our luggage at the lobby the last day when we checked out and had some hours to spend in the city.

No breakfast included but Chinatown is full of places to eat. We had free wifi in the room.

Cheap and Conveniently Located

The best reason to stay in the Red Roof Washington Downtown is the cheap price combined with a reasonably good location. If you want to stay close to the Mall, the Smithsonian, the Capitol and the National Library, and are travelling on a budget, Red Roof is a good choice.

My room was clean and adequate. There is a nice and cosy restaurant, "Irish Channel", in the same building. The elevator seemed to be busy always, and waiting time was too long. There is not much of a lobby. The staff was not too friendly, as if saying "we know you are not staying here for the beauty of the hotel or for our pretty faces, so let's cut the *** and don't expect us to smile at you".

However, Red Roof is good value for your money. Stepping out of the hotel and getting to the mall after a 7-8 minute walk was great. The hotel itself, by the way, is located on the border of Chinatown, with some good Chinese dining opportunities nearby.

Red Roof Washington Downtown

I know that i refused the room i get because there were all kind of spots on the ceiling from leaking water. i couldnot breath when i entered the room.
the next room i could breath. but i think they really need to do something about the leaking water spots.
The area was good. could walk to a lot of things and also a metro nearby. but didnot use it.
arrived here 2 may and left 4 may 2004

I haven't stayed in that hotel but have walked past it several times. It's just down the block from Chinatown and very convenient for tourists. I wouldn't worry about staying there.

I have not been in a couple years, but used to stay in that neighborhood quite a bit. I found it to be just fine. Like any other metro city, just keep an eye out when walking even in the day.

NW washington is generally pretty safe. Just be aware that you are in a large city and you'll be fine.

Had some clients stay there a few months ago. They are usually the 4/5 star types, but this time they wanted something less expensive. They were more than impressed by the Red Roof Inn, they were very happy with it, and found the area to be safe.
