Do not be fooled by the hotels older exterior.
The Suites are huge, and if you are staying somewhere for a week, necessary.
Housekeeping was great at cleaning up after us (we tipped them every day).
When Staying in Dc ways to save $$ is important.
The AC was excellent and appreciated in August. Slept like a baby.
Remember this is not a 4 star hotel, but very convenient to DC via 395. AC, SPACE in a 1 bedroom 2Qs.
2 tvs. clean kitchen. Continental breakfast to take to your room.(saves $$)
Pool is OK, there was a lifeguard on duty.

We really enjoyed Washington Suites Georgetown in Washington DC. The rooms are very spacious and up to date. Beds are comfortable. Staff is excellent. Workout room is great! And a great breakfast! The room had a kitchen in it, which is a plus! The location is excellent, walk to Georgetown and all the shops and restaraunts! So many! Papa Johns across the street and three restaurants right next door (one is pub/like and one is family)! You can also walk just 2 blocks to the Metro! A Great Stay!

What a great hotel! After much research, I chose the Washington Suites Georgetown for a 5 day trip with my husband and young brother. Great choice! The rooms are quite spacious. Living room sofa that pulls out to bed is quite comfy. The staff were very nice. Continental breakfast every morning had donuts, muffins, danish, cereal, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, juice, coffee, tea. The room is a little small to eat in but we found the outdoor terrace the second day and ate outside every morning. Morning newspaper at your door nice bonus. Location is great. We walked to all the shops in Georgetown and so many choices for restaurants within 10 minute walk every way you look. I would stay here again in a minute and my husband and brother loved it as well. Great choice!
Spacious suite, great location and value

We just returned from a 3 night stay at Washington Suites Georgetown. We had a one bedroom suite with a sofa bed in the living room which was great for our family--plenty of room to spread out. The room was on par with a nice Holiday Inn. It was clean and the bathroom was recently updated with marble. The location is awesome. We used the Foggy Bottom Metro (2 blocks away) to get to the museums and Reagan airport. We walked to dinner into Georgetown (10 minute walk) which the kids enjoyed. We walked to our White House tour (one mile) and walked to the Lincoln Memorial one morning. The central location, spacious clean accomodations, and free breakfast of donuts, bagels, muffins, fruit, coffee, juices, and oatmeal make this a great value with a family. I booked our midweek stay several months in advance with a AAA rate of $178. I would stay here again on a return trip.
Great location & value

The Washington Suites Hotel is located at the entrance to Georgetown. I selected a Georgetown-area hotel because our stay ran from a Thursday - Sunday, and on previous visits to DC we were surprised to see how many establishements close early and stay closed throughout the weekend. The city practically rolls up the streets and shuts down on weekends - accept, of course in Georgetown. We had a great time exploring restaurants and walking around the area. It is relatively short walk to the White House (10-15 minutes) and other popular and not-so-popular attractions. (We highly recommend visiting the Chesapeake & Ohio National Park and taking a mule-drawn canal boat ride). The very friendly staff provided walking directions to the various places we wanted to visit, and although we chose walk everywhere during our stay, taxi cabs were readily available. Our one-bedroom suite was a good value ($148). The bedroom and living room areas were large and very clean (although the bathroom was teeny-tiny). The rate included a complimentary continental breakfast (toast, bagels, cereal, doughnuts, coffee & juice). Excellent location & great value.
Beware of bug bites and bad business
by TripAdvisor Member seemsimp
During my stay at this hotel, I was bitten by a spider or insect while sleeping in the hotel bed. The hotel management offered no assistance when I reported the problem and I ended up paying for a cab to the local emergency room, receiving antibiotic treatment to treat a very sore and swollen foot, and missing an important business meeting. The hotel manager made it very clear that I should expect no compensation for the pain and inconvenience I suffered at the hotel. She even said the insect probably came with me in my suitcase! Then she told me that the hotel has many international visitors, and they have no control over what insects and spiders are brought in by international guests. Her main concern was covering all the bases to let me know that the hotel was in no way responsible. And for all this, I paid $300 a night! Bug infestation, rude management, and no service: if that's what you're looking for, then choose the Washington Suites Hotel in Georgetown.
ok but not great

reasonable value but the property is tired, parking is $20 a night BUT great location if you don't mind a little walk - 20 minutes to the mall and 10 minutes to Georgetown. The Asian restaurant next door is good. The continental breakfast is a challenge. Shop around, an ok place but some better ones in the neighborhood.
Great Value

Our family of four plus my mother all stayed very comfortably in the large suite for four nights. The sleeper sofa worked great for extra sleeping space. There was even room for a cot for our teenager. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and quiet. We barely used the nicely sized kitchen, but could have prepared meals there if we wanted to. Breakfast was good. The air conditioning worked well to keep us cool. We did have a problem with one t.v. that was not corrected (and we were charged for an in-room movie that we didn't watch for which the charge was grudgingly removed at check-out - the only real negative moment of the whole stay). This hotel is not walking distance to the Mall, but it is an easy walk to the Metro station, which is a great way to get to the monuments and museums.
Really enjoyed our stay.

We just returned from a 5 night stay and we were very well pleased with our choice of hotels. The room was clean, the service somewhat friendly, and the value was good. We used AAA and got a rate of 188 which was excellent for that area. It is very convenient to all of the restaurants and shopping in Georgetown and within walking distance to the National Mall and the Metro system. We will definitely stay there again when we go back.

Hotel / apartment for 3 adults & 1 child near the Smithsonian
by hayleyoz
Hi there,
I need to find a hotel or apartment near the Smithsonian, for a stay of nearly two weeks. It will be for 3 adults and 1 child (a couple, a grandmother and a 2 year old). Does anyone have any recomendations? They would prefer a place with a lounge and a kitchenette.
Many thanks in advance!
Hayley :)

Thanks for the link, it looks like a lovely apartment. Unfortunately it's also booked out on the dates I need - it must be popular!

There are many different options to choose from. Here are a few suggestions:
DC Vacation Rentals (202) 547-1013
AKA White House District Luxury Suites (202) 904-2500
Best Western Georgetown Hotel & Suites (202) 457-0565
Washington Suites Georgetown (202) 333-8060
There are a few other hotels that do not offer a kitchenette that you can look at, L'Enfant Plaza, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center and the Marriott at Metro Center. I hope this helps!

you could look at other apartments on www.vrbo.com which is where I found the link - there are other places but this is the one that was closest.

Craigs List is very popular here. Try that if all else fails. I've used it for years and have never had an issue. ~
