A whole lot of shopping going on
"Bell Square and others"
Bellevue is known for it's shopping now. Bellevue Square is a large mall that is one of the major places to go shopping in the Puget Sound area. There has recently been an addition to it across the street that is called Lincoln Square that has movie theatre, restaurants, stores, and a hotel. Bellevue has grown over the past 50+ years from a quiet little farming town to a leading business city in the state of Washington. Prior to the Lake Washington floating bridge being built in the 1960's, Bellevue was accesible only by driving around Lake Washington or by boat, both of which were not that convenient. The interstate allowed for the huge growth to occur. The growth was originally residential in nature with many people commuting to Seattle for work. However, now there are just as many people coming from Seattle to Bellevue as there are from Bellevue to Seattle. In addition, Belleuve acts as a commuting hub for the other Eastside communities of Renton, Issaquah, Kirkland, and Sammamish.
