Bellevue, one of the fastest growing cities in Washington state, is seen as a Seattle suburb or a Seattle satellite city, even though it's a city in its own right. Bellevue is located on the eastern shores of Lake Washington, while downtown Seattle is located on its western shores.
In 1997 my family based ourselves in Bellevue to explore Seattle. It was likely a cheaper alternative than staying in downtown Seattle, but it's a quick drive across the bridge so there's really no inconvenience. Although we didn't see much of Bellevue, we did manage to visit its mall: Bellevue Square.
