Cascade Hills State Park Campground: Sheltered in the Trees, but Still Windy

I have not spent the night at Cascade Hills / Horsethief Lake State Park. However, I can give a basic description of the camp sites.

There are only 18 camp sites here, all of which are fairly close together. Only 8 of these camp sites offer partial utility hookup. All are first-come first-served.

Horsethief Lake sits at a location where the wind blows particularly strongly - and the Columbia Gorge in general is known as a giant wind tunnel anyway. So, be prepared for the location to have a lot of wind. The trees that shelter the campground help a little bit, but it is still very strong on many days.

There are pay showers in the restrooms, which are downhill somewhat from the campground and a bit of a distance away.
