Visit the capitol is you find yourself in Olympia. For newcomers this would be fairly interesting I would think though it would be pretty boring to me. I miss Happy Terikayi when I'm away from Olympia. They have the best teriyaki in the area and I would recommend trying their yakisoba dish.
Packing List
by Bacat
Bring warm clothes, with lots of long sleeves and bright colors. Camos are popular, thermal underwear is also a hit. Shorts are ok in the summer, but you still might not get to wear them.
Most Olympian's don't bother with rain gear or umbrellas...just assume that you'll get wet eventually. If you have a bicycle, put fenders on it or you'll have mud streaks on your back.
Also, there are some big hills in Oly, so have a wide variety of gears. Bring a WINE KEY!
Ralph's Thriftway on the eastside hill on 4th Ave, westside Top Foods (on Black Lake Blvd near highway 101), and westside Safeway (on Mud bay Rd and Cooper Point Rd) all have excellent wine selections. From the inexpensive to the prohibitively expensive, you have to drink some wine in Olympia.
Mondo Shrimp
by Rude_boy22 about Mondo Shrimp
A small resteraunt with great dishes near the waterfront on the eastside. Serves up some awesome food in giant, handpainted, ceramic bowls. The prices are somewhat high for a small eatery, ($8-12 For a main dish) but well worth it. Suit and tie resteraunts do not come close to serving food as well made as this. Linguini, or any other pasta dish, and shrimp of course.
Washington State Capitol : the dome
by mike-tango
Impressive !!!
The ceiling of the interior dome rises 53 meters above the rotunda floor. Hanging from a 30- meter chain is an ornate 5-ton bronze chandelier containing over 200 light bulbs. This is the largest chandelier ever created by the artists of the Tiffan studios in New York. It traveled west by train and was assembled and installed in the rotunda during the final stages of construction.
Olympia has got to be the rainiest city

"Weather"
A lot of people think that rain can be depressing, and although I agree that this may be true for others, its not for me. Whenever I go on vacations around the world, I am always happy to return to Olympia because the rain is refreshing!
