car camping at a temperate rainforest

Olympic National Park is quite large with many different terrains and it makes sense to move around a bit with your accommodation unless you like driving or intend to spend your whole time in one area. After a couple days in the Elwha area, we moved over to the coast. Mora Campground is the most convenient to the most popular sights of the area.

Unique Quality: It's a large campground with 94 sites but they are well spaced out and you certainly don't feel penned in by your neighbors. Of course, it always pays to drive around and look for your best option. We got a corner lot that was huge, relatively close to the restroom and full of old growth trees. You are literally camping in the rain forest here so expect damp, dark conditions. This was one of the nicest car campgrounds of our entire six-month trip and very atmospheric. Despite its lushness, we only had the occasional drizzle and the weather was nicer than at Elwha.

Restrooms are modern and this is a bargain at $12. It's only 2 miles to Rialto Beach and not far from the La Push area beaches either.
