We spent 3 romantic nights in Port Townsend at the James House. It was perfect in every way. Our room overlooked the water with a view of Mt. Ranier (when it chose to show its face). The breakfast was gourmet with all the trimmings -- very filling, no need for lunch. The innkeepers were very helpful too ... dinner recommendations were excellent.
Also, the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, like into the quaint Victorian town to shop or eat. We also rented bikes in town & rode out to Fort Worden. A worthwhile trip! (You'll see a historic army base that was the setting for the film "An Officer & A Gentleman", a beautiful lighthouse, and if you take a little hike up the hill, some fascinating WWII barricades & underground tunnels). Make sure you ask the bike rental guy how to bike to Fort Worden the "easy" way (without major hills!)
We highly recommend the James House!
