A good hotel for me is one that has (in addition to comfortable beds):
a) free local calls and lets me go online from my room for free
b) a pool
c) a nice free breakfast
d) some cable TV other than HBO.
I picked this hotel because I had to have transportation to where I was having my training, and also I wanted transportation to downtown Seattle.
From their webpage:
"From the lobby, guests can watch the elevators rise to the top of the Seattle Center's world famous Space Needle.
"Just a short walk brings one to the Seattle Monorail which runs between the Seattle Center and Westlake Center, located in the heart of downtown shopping"
One afternoon I did take the monorail into town to do some shopping.
"Guest room amenities include in-room coffee maker and coffee, 25" color television, voice mail messaging, data ports, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, modem jacks and some rooms have dual phone lines.
Morning newspaper
Free local phone calls
Free local and incoming facsimiles
Total Guest Rooms: 123
Kids Stay Free! (Children under 17 stay free with accompanying adult)
Complimentary coffee, voice mail and computer modem port
Internet Kiosk in lobby (US$3.00 for 15 minutes - Subject to change)
Parking is available free of charge."
They didn't have an internet kiosk then, and the children staying free, the complimentary coffee, and the free parking wasn't important to me, but the free local calls WAS important. The only other thing I would have asked for would have been a pool and breakfast.
I took a number of pictures of the Seattle skyline from my room.
