Things to do for the 4th of July
by HispanicYob
I've been to Seattle many times before when I was working on cruise ships. Me and my family want to go and celebrate the 4th of July there. I've been during summer but never for long to celebrate the 4th. Any ideas on what to do or what to see?

There are the various fireworks shows scattered all over the region. This is last year's list, but you won't see this year's list until closer to 4th of July.

It gives you some idea of the various places that have them.

Travel Tips for Seattle
Smith Tower
by karenincalifornia
The Smith Tower is perhaps only second to the Space Needle in terms of recognizable architectural landmarks in Seattle. With 42 floors, this building is one of the nations early skyscrapers and for a time, was the tallest building outside of New York City. It was completed in 1914 for the small sum of $1 million! The Smith Tower has an observation deck, which is much cheaper to visit than the Space Needle. And if you want to spend a few more bucks and throw a party, you can do so at the Chinese Room, 35th floor.
I Love Seattle!

Seattle is the perfect urban experience. From downtown to Alki Beach to Freemont to Gasworks Park to Capital Hill to Seattle Center. It’s clean, friendly, fun with a great public transportation system. For a city of its size it is very safe.

Since this city is one of the most beautiful in the USA its hard to pick a single place to see. I guess, if one likes the city scene Pioneer Place in the downtown area is the oldest and has the most character. As for the nature lovers there are many city, state and national parks in the area. Each has its own appeal and beauty, they are all worth visiting. Since this is my hometown I miss it each time I'm away but I guess, the most I miss Seattlelites. People that live here are polite, friendly.
Driving Tips in Seattle
by machomikemd
If you are arriving in Seattle by car, there are several ways you may be driving in. The largest freeway is Interstate 5 (I-5), which runs up the middle of Seattle, north-south. If you are coming from the east, you may be headed in via Interstate-90 or Freeway 520. All routes from the west are going to be by ferry. There are only two roads that run all the way through Seattle from north to south -- Interstate 5 and State Route 99 (which is also known as Aurora Avenue within the city limits, and which becomes the Alaska Way Viaduct while running through downtown Seattle). Thus they are natural traffic magnets. The only east-west street to run directly from the waterfront area of downtown Seattle to the shore of Lake Washington to the east is Madison Street.
Pike's Market Seattle
by riorich55
It is unique to find an everyday Farmer's Market in a large metropolitan area of the United States. Certainly one of the most know is Pike's Place in Seattle. Besides being able to get all types of fresh fish here there are a number of flower vendors and other types of food items that you would normally find at a farmer's market
