Riverfront Park
by Shadownlite
You must see Riverfront Park. It was built for the World Expo 1974 (World's fair) and has an IMAX theatre. It has many rides for children and also is right next to the falls and the dam. It is a great place to go in the spring and summer when all the rides are open and in the winter, there is an ice skating rink in the center of the park. You can feed the ducks, rent bicycles, ride the Ferris Wheel, view the falls, or just relax on the grassy areas.
The park is right next to the downtown area where there are movie theatres and shopping, as well as many great resturants.
Check out website: http://www.visitspokane.com/ for more information What will I miss the most if I am away from Spokane? It is rather quiet for a big city...which is a good thing and a bad thing. Ia lso miss how close the nature is to the city. There are lots of trees in the city and it is mere minutes to state parks and wilderness areas.

Book enthusiasts should check...

Book enthusiasts should check out Auntie's Bookstore downtown. A lot of smaller restaurants are hidden away without any signs or anything around downtown also, most of which are interesting experiences.

Spokane Sculpture Walk
by JessieLang
Spokane has some really nice sculptures in Riverfront Park and just outside it, and the Visitor's Bureau (201 W. Main St.) has a map with descriptions.
Sculptures include a local astronaut who died in the Columbia Space Shuttle; a giant concrete Japanese lantern; sculptures honoring mining, nursing, and Vietnam Vets; a mountain sheep; the Bloomsday runners; and the Garbage Goat.
One nice piece (at Monroe St. & Spokane Falls Blvd) is a poem engraved in granite formed in a large spiral (Photo 2.) The poem, "The Place Where Ghosts of Salmon Jump," is by Sherman Alexie.
