nightlife

Where do we go for fun and dancing, near the downtown area. I will be making several business trips to that area. Also can you suggest some 4 star hotels with nightlife or close by.

The nicest hotel in Downtown, as well as the city, is the Davenport. Try to get a room in the actual hotel though as opposed to the tower (the room descriptions note this). Otherwise, one of the Red Lion Inns would be good, although not 4-star.
For drinking, there are quite a few bars near to the Davenport that would probably suit you, but none, to my knowledge, offer dancing, except Dempsey's, which is technically a gay club, but caters to all. There are a couple of other clubs that do dancing on Division, but they're more oriented toward college students.

If you are staying in the downtown area - nightlife is not that far away. You can go to Pioneer Square where there is always music and dancing (a bit of a younger crowd). Anything down between 4th and 2nd Street from one end of the Ride Free Zone to the other is going to be good. The Dahlia Lounge is at the north end of town and is good for dinner and atmosphere.
Travel Tips for Spokane
Check out the downtown area....

Check out the downtown area. Great restaurants, great architecture, and a large park with the Spokane River going through it. Add that to the upscale shopping and the huge AMC theater, and you have a very cool downtown area.

Auntie's Bookstore
by Shadownlite
Auntie's Bookstore is a really great place to buy books, games, eat in a cafe, and also buy used books. You can buy magazines from all over the world in Auntie's as well. They have authors come and read in the store and it is a great place to spend a lot of time browsing and relaxing. They have chairs set up around the store to sit in and read. Auntie's has a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
View across the lake to City centre.

The business and one of the shopping areas in Spokane are quite close to the park, so if you tire of the activities in the park you can walk over for a choice of restaurants or some serious shopping.
Many of the buildings down town are connected by pedestrian walkways above the traffic.
Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture
by JessieLang
The MAC has 6 galleries—Exhibits may be from the Museum’s permanent collection or from temporary exhibits they bring in. They have a very good Native American collection. Recent traveling exhibits have ranged from Sue (the dinosaur) to Star Wars.
One Saturday each month, there are special hands-on activities for kids--usually crafts that fit the theme of one of the current exhibits.
The 1898 Campbell House next door is owned by the MAC, and is included in the admission fee IF the house is open. (Sometimes it’s not.) There is a nice little café in the Museum also.
Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Adults - $7; Students & Seniors (62+) - $5
