Cassandra Hotel: Decent Budget Accomodation
This hotel is about a 15/20 minute drive from the city--fairly close to all the hub of the city. This was the most affordable place we could find in the city without staying in a motel. Hotel is old--built in the 70's--has small TV's in room (20 inch?), old carpet, windows don't open in rooms, but have air conditioning and heat that you can control. Does have updated bedspreads, sheets, and nice soap. Hotel was clean, but this is definitely a "budget" stay. Bring your own pillows--theirs were so flat, we had to ask for extras. There's a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker in each room--hair dryer, iron, shampoo, but no conditioner, etc. No continental breakfast. Has electronic keys for room and building entry for extra safety. Not located in the best area--but doesn't seem to be a really "unsafe" area, either. I would recommend parking your car in the underground lot, under the hotel, just to ensure safety of your car. It cost us an extra $5 a day for internet access, which wasn't bad, but we stayed here because we wanted to spend all our money on seeing the city. Be extra patient when checking in and checking out--service is slow--it seems to be a "family run business". Sauna is in the basement--which we didn't check out, because the basement was too creepy. Otherwise, decent hotel if you'd rather spend your cash on other things like we did.

Bonneville Hot Springs Resort: Spa Outside of Vancouver, Worth the Drive
Bonneville Hot Springs Resort is approximately 40 minutes from Vancovuer in the Columbia River Gorge. If you don't need or want to stay in Vancouver, it is worth the drive. This is a relatively new hotel with a very nice spa offering many services. I believe there are 4 room types: Deluxe Guestroom, Hot Tub Room, Courtyard Suite and Hot Tub Suite. I have stayed in each. The deluxe room is surprisingly large. Shower is somewhat dark. Nice size balcony overlooking the courtyard. The hot tub rooms are the same as a deluxe, except they have a large hot tub on the balcony. These rooms are on the backside and look toward the forest. The Courtyard suites are huge. Two sliders to the large balcony. Extremely large bathroom with a Jacuzzi shower. Hot tub suite is the same at the courtyard, except you have a hot tub on the balcony. Hot tubs are filled with natural hot spring water.
Great pool and outdoor hot tub. One time, while soaking in the outdoor hot tub, it seemed like you were hearing thousands of frogs croaking. Wide range of spa services, including european facials, bath & wrap, massage (hot stone & aromatherapy), scalp and foot treatments. Spa package deals are the way to go. Dining is not their forte. Don't expect a great meal, just an okay meal.
