Captain Whitbey Inn: Whitbey Island
I would not recommend staying here unless the price is lowered to a more appropriate level as this is not 3 or 4 star accomodation in my view. We stayed two nights in a Lagoon room and found it to be well below what we would expect of a $165.00 per night room. The double bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable, the tap dripped and the fixtures were old and stained. The gardens were lovely but the dock on the water was closed likely due to safety concerns. We were fortunate that there were not many guests when we stayed so it was fairly quiet but being an older building in a motel style it would be best to stay on the top floor. I'm not sure about the inn rooms but when having breakfast on the main floor the creaking of people walking above was very loud. The breakfast was fine and the inn keeper was very friendly.
Unique Quality: The old inn is gorgeous and the gardens are lovely. It is well situated for sight seeing on the island.

South Whidbey State Park: South Whidbey Offers Pristine Camping
We stayed four days/3 nights over a weekend in May at South Whidbey State Park at sites 13, 15, and 17. Near the restrooms and Park Host and just down from the trail to the beach.
Overall the stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The ranger drove around several times a day. He asked noisy groups to be quiet after dark, the restrooms were kept clean and stocked.
If you are camping in the spring, be sure to bring warm clothes (preferably fleece) and down sleeping bags to keep warm at night. It can become quiet chilly. If it calls for rain and you are tenting it, bring plent of tarps and rope.
The only drawback was the one shower in the loop's restroom. The campground was only half full, so shower lineups were minimal.

The Officers quarters can be rented by the night: Officers Quarters pre-war, Fort Casey
Before you enter Fort Casey there are the Officers Quarters and Barracks for the soldiers of the fort. They are no longer at the fort and all the property has been turned into a park. Part of the land is owned by Seattle Pacific University and is used as a center for youth sports.

Anchorage Inn, Bed and Breakfast: Local Bed and Breakfast, Coupeville
Very nice location with a view of the water. The Anchorage Inn sits just over the town of Coupeville. It is a new home built in the old style. We have heard many nice things about it.
