Visit the Village Cafe for...
by teacupgal
Visit the Village Cafe for breakfast. The food is absolutely fabulous with breakfasts ranging from yoghurt with fresh fruit and granola to eggs benedict--but don't miss their famous fried potatoes. You can purchase their special potatoe spices at the restaurant to make them at home. Be sure to take note of the artwork and decorations, many of which are for sale. Also, visit the Market (grocery store) for wonderful deli treats. It's a great place to pick up food if you plan to 'eat in' your condo. The Fall Pumpkin Patch festival is great!! However, the crowds can be overwhelming. We always stay an extra day or so to see the village decorations without the crowds. Spring, summer & fall display the lovely flowers along the roadway. Don't miss it!

"Door County - The Midwest USA Version of Cape Cod"
Think of Lighthouses and a lot of travelers in the USA think about Maine or Cape Code on the East Coast, but the country with the most lighthouses in the USA is Door County with 10 different lighthouse scattered around this county located between Lake Michigan and Green Bay (its the little pinky part of your right hand if you look at a map of Wisconsin).
"How Did Egg Harbor Get Its Name?"
There are several stories about how Egg Harbor got its name, but the following appears to be the real one: Back in 1825 Mrs. Elizabeth Baird recorded the following in her journal on June 23rd. She wrote that there was a battle among a six-boat trading flotilla. Mrs. Baird saw eggs flying in the air, some of which struck her own head. The leader tried to stop the battle, but the fun was "too fierce to be readily given up." The great battle stopped only for want of ammunition, and the men "laughed until exhausted." The next morning the battlefield was so strewn with egg shells that before leaving shore, speeches befitting the occasion were made, and the spot was formally christened Egg Harbor.
