Midway Motel: Very Nice Independent Motel in Viroqua

by Basaic

The Midway Motel, in addition to regular rooms, has rooms with 3 beds and rooms with 4 beds for larger families. They also have rooms with fully equipped kitchens and rent by the week and by the month. The lady running the place, and her young daughter, were nice and I had an enjoyable conversation with them. Worth a try.

The Heidle House Hotel and Timeshares: Stay at Wisconsin's Deepest Lake

by Maneaba

From May 16-23 2009 I stayed at the Heidle House in Green Lake Wisconsin
which a combination of a Timeshare and Hotel services
It is set in in the romantic setting of Green Lake and a lot of marriages are performed here
as well young couples coming for their honeymoons
The day I got there I noted a wedding behind the Gray Rock Restaurant
facing the lake.
I highly recommend this place as a romantic getaway.
however the room rates vary depending on what you want
Room rates run from:
$ 99.00 [standard room - most economical] $329.00 [2 Bedroom Suite - most expensive ] Jan 01 - Apr 1
$150.00 $509.00 May 01 - June 30
$200.00 $609.00 Jul 01 - Aug 31
$150.00 $509.00 Sep 01 - Oct 31
$ 99.00 $329.00 Nov 01 - Dec 30

The Sunroom Restaurant at the Heidle House has a great view of the lake
and the Gray Rock Restaurant next door to the main hotel which is part of the Heidle house
is a great place to eat if you have some money to spend being that it's a 5 star restaurant
There is also water sports in the summer and boat tour around the lake.
There is an indoor swimming pool and a nature walk called the Heidle hike.

Orange Lake: A Time Share in Lake Geneva

by deecat

Since my husband and I own a Time Share, we frequently trade in that time share for other places to stay. In addition, we are able to pay a minimum amount [less than $150.00 for one week] to rent a condo somewhere we wish to go. This November, to celebrate Allan's birthday, we used that ability to go to Lake Geneva, Illinois, to the area of the Grand Geneva Resort at Orange Lake Condos. We let our daughter's family use it for three nights before we used it.

The one bedroom villa had a view of the golf fairway, which you could see from the living room and from the balcony. The living room had a sofa which made into a queen-sized bed, two chairs, a coffee table, lamps, and a television set. There was a small kitchen with an oven, refrigerator, sink, and a micro-wave oven.

The bedroom had a king-sized bed, large TV, end table, and wardrobe. The large bathroom included a washer/dryer, spa tub and shower, and a large sink area.

The unit that we had was on the second floor and was clean, well equipped, and attractive.

The villa/condo was located at the Grand Geneva Resort. A shuttle is available to travel to all the facilities available such as the golf courses, water parks, pools, gift shops, spa, and restaurants.

Besides all these activities, there is also a Fitness Center, tennis, downhill skiing, hiking paths, hay and sleigh rides [seasonally].

We were especially impressed with the wonderful restaurants at the resort. [see restaurant tip]

While here at Orange Lake and Grand Geneva, you are also able to visit the lovely town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, with its historic homes, a beach, restaurants, galleries, and shops.

Telemark Resort: One of Northern Wisconsin's Best Resorts

by Maneaba

From July 8-15th 2007
I stayed at the Telemark Resort near Cable Wisconsin
in southern Bayfield County.

During the Summer the Telemark Resort is used for hiking, mountain biking, swimming
and during the winter it is used as a cross country ski resort

The resort built in the 1970s on the slopes of Mount Telemark
and contains a hotel, timeshare and even private condominium ownship
for those that frequent the resort every year.

The town of Cable has a small airfield for private planes for those that want to fly into the resort which is conveniently right next door to the resort.
I would give Telemark a 5 star rating.

The Telemark Resort has a good set of hiking trails going up to the top of Mount Telemark
an indoor and outdoor pool with jacuzzi bathtubs in the timeshare rooms

Isaac Wing House: Historic means old

by HigleyLinda

Very disappointed in the care of the house. It was not kept up well as stated in advertisments. The ammenities were not there. It was smokey, the wastebaskets were not emptied, bed not made, no clean towels, coffee or tea not available, and it was noisy. The owner was on premises but seemed uninterested in guests and spent her time partying.

Close to town.

Holiday Inn Manitowoc Wi: Holiday Inn Still Quality!

by Eurtravfam

Holiday Inn: Great room, parking lot view, huge bathroom, perfect firm mattress and lots of room. Training room,, swimming pool and hot tub. Good reception desk. Located right off Highway 43 as you head to Green Bay

Pool, Bed!!

Old Maritime Inn: Best Western Manitowoc Wi

by Eurtravfam

The BW on the lake shore is not up to par with other better hotels in the town of Manitowoc. The Room is clean but in ours we could not open the window without letting all the bug in, no window screens. The AC was very loud and old. The bathroom is very small and NOT multi task able. No mini-bar. Our view was looking over the river entrance at the S.S. Badger Car Ferry, really impressive! and the city sewage plant (yummy).

I would not recommend this hotel, unless you get a great Senior (or other) discount

Pool is nice nad clean but too warm and in direct view of the hotel lobby. TV (Cable) is good or catching up on the latest ballgame scores

Radisson Hotel Pewaukee: Frank Lloyd School designed!

by Travel2write

Designed by architects of the Frank Lloyd Wright School, this low-slung Prairie-style hotel is 15 minutes west of Milwaukee.

Everything was awsome about it. Great rooms, comforatable, with great staff and room service. Has several specials due to location is out of the city. I will stay everytime I come thru.

The spacious guest rooms and suites at the Radisson Hotel Milwaukee-Pewaukee offer such luxurious touches as huge dual-head marble showers. BOSE Professional Wave Radios, thick towels and robes. Other in-room amenities at the Milwaukee hotel include High-Speed Internet Access, coffeemakers, ironing boards, data ports and direct-line telephones with personalized voicemail.

The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin: From 1918 until 1978, It Housed Immigrants

by deecat

The American Club was constructed in 1918 as a residence hall for the single men who worked for Kohler Company, a leading manufacturer of plumbing products and generator sets. Most of these immigrants were from northern Europe.

Walter Kohler was the third son of the founder and also president of the company. He was the one who came up with the idea; he wanted it to help Americanize these men. And that is why he called it The American Club!

At that time, there were huge kitchens that prepared large quantities of food that were based on recipes from the homelands that were being served. The dining Hall is now The Wisconsin Room. The tap room then is now the Horse & Plow.

They had a bowling alley, reading rooms, player-piano and Victrola for the men.
In 1925, the north end wing was added for more sleeping rooms and a pub. This all worked well until about 1978 when it had "outlived its purpose."
At that time, it was placed on The National Register of Historic Places. It was empty, desolate, and rundown.

Then, Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., grandson of the founder of Kohler Company, decided to turn it into a world-class resort. It took a long time because they wanted to ensure the historical integrity of this place.

Today, The American Club has earned numerous awards and has been placed on lists with the most reknown resorts.

Once again, it is a home filled with hospitality, good food, but now it caters to those who pursue a gracious lifestyle.

I consider the one time that we stayed there to be one of the most satisfying of my travel experiences.
