Where the city gets it's name
If you are at all a fan of swimming I would suggest attending a UW-La Crosse swim meet. I swam there while I was in college and it was a ton of fun. Besides you will be seeing the Confrence champs 2002, and 2003 women compete and runner up men compete. The women finished 10 in the nation in 2002. Some of the best D-III athletes go to this school. Besides swimming the gymnastics team and the track team are multi-year national champs!!
One of my best friends, Larry and his family, lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It's a nice, typical midwestern college town.
Property is pretty cheap, from what I've heard, so it might be a good place to buy a home if you can find work there. It is a pretty blue-collar type of area.
