Go up to Grandad's Bluff and see the incredible view of the city, the valleys and the Mississippi River. From this point you can see three states - Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Partying at Oktoberfest! It's a total blast!
My dorm was right next to the park. It has a great little FREE zoo and very nice hiking trails throught the swamp. They spray for bugs so although it is near a huge swamp there aren't many bugs. Also has a huge play area for kids.
The present day zoo has many outdoor exhibits which include monkeys, bears, foxes, deer, bobcats, sheep, goats, prairie dogs, turkeys, peacocks, and a variety of other birds. The indoor facility has rabbits, chinchillas, and snakes.

LaCrosse is a great town located on the west side of Wisconsin on the Mississippi River. The most beautiful part of the Mississippi River is easily along the Great River Road that runs through Wisconsin and Minnesota. I went to college here my freshman year and absolutely fell in love with the city. Unfortunately I also fell in love with the incredible amount of bars here! It's a great place to hike, bike, or canoe - the surrounding area is just beautiful!
