Gourmet in a Country Setting
Shortly after arriving at Lake Geneva [about 11:30 a.m.], we decided to have lunch. We inquired at the "The Cove of Lake Geneva Resort", and they suggested rather new Egg Harbor Cafe We found it to be a darling place with outdoor screened-in seating which serves breakfast and lunch. We decided to eat inside in a bright, lovely room.
ThisCafe offers many breakfast items all day long. We did not eat breakfast but certainly perused the menu carefully. We noted that it included Scramblers [all made with 3 scrambled eggs and served with an English muffin]; Breakfast Combos; Aimee's Gourmet Griddle [pancakes, waffles, or french toast in various flavors]; Our Crepes [served with Harbor Potatoes, English Muffin, poppy seed dressing on the side}; Harbor Benedicts [served with Harbor potatoes & fruit]; Omelettes; Midwestern Frittatas [Their specialty! Baked, open-faced omelettes served with Harbor potatoes and an English muffin]. Starting at 11:00 a.m., lunch is available.
The menu included Soups, Sandwiches, Roll Ups, Flatbreads, Garden Salads.
Mickey and I shared our lunch, which was just right.
We shared a most delicious Door County Chicken Salad Melt Sandwich [all-white-meat chicken salad blended with dried cranberries, toasted pecans, crisp diced apples all grilled on multi-grain bread with Jack and Cheddar cheeses and a ripe tomato].
It included mini potato pancakes with sour cream or apple sauce and a small side salad with poppy seed dressing. Mickey had the pancakes, and I had the salad. All of it was absolutely yummy!
This is a perfect restaurant for lunch, and we had the addition of a vivacious waitress.
