Great Location But Butt Ugly
On Capital Square, an easy walk from the best Madison has to offer (which is considerable), but very sorely in need of renovation. Fairly reasonably priced because I think the proprietors know its long in the tooth. The end of State Street closest to the capital is seedier than is pleasant sometimes (mind the schizophrenic man off his meds!), the joys of Madison far outweigh these minor inconveniences. Don't expect the Ritz, but nobody goes to Madison to stay in the room.
Unique Quality: Location, location, location. Within a few blocks of some great eateries (e.g., The Great Dane Brewpub), and as centrally located as you can get in Madison.
