S.C. Johnson Wax
by RACCOON1
Racine, Wisconsin is the home of S.C. Johnson Wax a company that was founded in 1886 .
Wisconsin is Frank Lloyd Wright territory so it seems fitting that the Johnson Wax Admin Building shoudl be designed by F.L. Wright.
The building was completed in April 22,1939 , the same year as the New York Worlds fair, and is compared to the fair . Thus it is viewed as an attempt to predict what was to be in the future . In some ways it was very close.
Free tours a re offered ,and reservations are recommended. Times are 11:00 and 1:15. We had no reservations and got in .
Kringle Heaven

"A "Danish" on Steroids"
If you like gooey-sticky-sweet pastry, Racine is where you want to be. It is the North American home of the Kringle, a super-Danish pastry that is guaranteed to delight the sweet tooth.
How many places still have a particular food item that is deeply associated with that area? Philly has Cheese Steak, Chicago has deep dish pizza, the upper peninsula of Michigan has the pasty, and Racine has the Kringle.
Although the basic Kringle is essentially pastry with glazed sugar, they come in many varieties. Pictured here are the Date Pecan and Blueberry Cheese Kringles.
I photographed these Kringles at Bendtsen's Bakery and Cafe, which is on State Route 20 leading into town.
