Don't forget your umbrella and a pair of waterproof shoes! This is the first time I have seen water fall from the sky in sheets (they called it rain - looked more like a spontaneous waterfall to me!) We found out (after we arrived - of course) that July is Cheyenne's rainy season. Every afternoon the skys open up and drench anyone dumb enough to be outside. In a matter of minutes the streets look like rivers and you won't be going anywhere for a good 45 minutes. Then the rain magically dissappears, the sun comes out, and life goes on like nothing ever happened.

It's not very cold, so a lightweight (preferably waterproof) jacket will do. I'm from California and was often wearing t-shirts at 2am without being cold.

During Frontier Days dress code is casual. Wranglers & cowboy boots work just fine. Bring a camera - you can get x-tra film at Wal-Mart. You'll definately want pictures of the beautiful Native American costumes! If you get ear infections from wind... bring earplugs or cotton balls. Cheyenne is very windy!

It's true: Wyoming is the least populated of the United States of America. But that doesn't mean that it has a shack for a state capitol! It's a fine western-barocco structure that well-illustrates the pride of Wyomanians in their frontier state.

Who would ever think that a herd of goats would get loose and run through the Greyhound parking lot scaring the boarding passengers????? Well this was my experience for my 6 hour lay-over here. The funniest thing was when the police showed up to round up the goats!!!! You should have been there......one police officer chasing about 50 wild goats across road, through traffic and in between Greyhound buses. By the way, the goats really do butt you with their heads. A picture is soon to follow so then you can see for yourself. What a memorable experience. This is a real back country behind the times kind of place.
