Microtel DOES NOT Honor Booking Prices

Microtel DOES NOT Honor Booking Prices

We booked with the Mircotel because they were listed as the host hotel for a local event in Cheyenne, WY. We called the Microtel because we did not have a coupon code to book online with the discount they were offering as host of the event. At first, the woman we spoke with did not know what we meant when we asked about the event, but she found something in their office & quoted us a rate. It was extremely poor management by the Microtel to not inform or train their staff for various promotions they were offering. We very specifically asked if the rate applied to any room, and she said the document she was looking at did not list any restrictions on rooms. We felt strange booking our rooms without a confirmation code, but went ahead & booked at the quoted price due to the special circumstances.

When we arrived at the Microtel, we sensed a problem with our booking immediately. Betty at the front desk instantly said there is no way she could give us our room for that rate. Betty went out of her way to call the manager, Jamie H., to tell her we should not get the rate we were quoted by another of their employees. Manager Jamie, over the phone, said she could only give us the same room for about 40% more than the booked rate we were given over the phone earlier. We were just told there was no way they could give us rate we booked the room for. Jamie proved herself to be a horrible manager by not training her staff correctly in the first place to avoid any booking confusion, but then Jamie proved herself a bad manager by not taking care of her customers. We as the customers were punished over confusion among their staff.

So even though an employee of Microtel booked us a room at a rate they agreed to, the manager of Mircotel insisted on charging us 40% more. I think Jamie the manager should not punish her customers for her own ineptness at managing her employees, and instead honor the rates the Microtel gave us as customers as a good practice. Instead, greed took over, the customer was forced to pay 40% more than expected & now I hope to let all potential Microtel customers know they do not honor booked prices & you should stay anywhere else in Cheyenne, WY.

Finally, once we were in our rooms, we were not impressed with the room, especially with the additional, unexpected fees just to stay there. It was obviously a new hotel, so the aesthetics were quite nice as it was barely used. A nice flat screen TV, though a bit small. However, the bathroom smelled faintly of urine which was gross. We were close to the elevator, which for a 3 story hotel was the SLOWEST elevator I’ve ever waited for & used the stairs on the other end of the hall the whole time.

Finally, time to sleep in our room. The Microtel must be the LOUDEST hotel I have ever slept in. I had the worst nights sleep ever in a hotel. No sound-proofing was added to this cheap hotel. I clearly could hear my neighbors TV blaring all night, I could hear my neighbor coughing & sneezing in the bathroom, it sounded like an aerobics class was going on above our room, and the temperature control was a bit confusing & we were constantly battling with the temperature of the room. Being so close to the elevator, we heard people walking by all night. I was exhausted after trying to sleep here.

So only stay at the Microtel if you can afford to pay 40% more than your booked rate, and if you do not need to get a good night’s sleep.
