For a Remote Stay in Beautiful Sunlight Valley
Although I have not stayed overnight at the 7D I have visited the ranch, and eaten with the guests. This ranch is tucked back into a beautiful valley 50 miles northwest of Cody, and is surrounded by national forest. This ranch has been operating since 1958, and with only 10 rustic cabins, of various sizes, the ranch has a smaller guest capacity than many other ranches in the area, which to me is a plus. The smaller guest list will give you a more intimate and personal experience. With both daytime and night time planned activities, I have been there as part of a night time activity, traveling up to the ranch with three of our raptors from the Draper Museum Raptor Experience. The family and staff are very friendly, and not only asked for our program to come up, but even included us in their night meal. The food was served family style in the lodge dining room. The 10 cabins are log, and are well kept up, and cozy looking. I am very impressed with the beauty of the area, and the potential wildlife you may see while staying at the ranch, including humming birds that zoomed up and down at incredible speeds.
The ranch operates on a 7-night package, Sunday to Sunday. The rates include lodging, gratuities, three meals a day and snacks, daily activities, evening activities (dancing, campfire with S’mores, cowboy sing/poet, evening sports, Indian Sweat Lodge, archery, skeet shooting, and the occasional special program such as the two raptor programs we presented at the ranch.) . During the day you may participate in guided horseback trips, fishing, hunting during hunting season, and hiking. They also present special programs for children. Rates do not include Wyoming sales or lodging tax.
If you have small children, there is baby sitting available for an extra charge.
Rather than staying at the ranch, you may also arrange for custom tailored horseback pack trips, ranging from 3 days to two weeks.
Airport pick up and return is available for an additional fee from either Cody, Wyoming’s Yellowstone Regional Airport (52 miles) or Billings, Montana’s Logan International Airport (125 miles).

Unique Quality: The setting is beautiful, the ranch is very remote and out of the way for those of you who really want to have an off the beaten path experience. There are different "seasons", for example weeks for families and weeks for adults only.
Directions: The ranch is located on the way to the NE Entrance of Yellowstone along the Chief Joseph Highway, though you will leave the main highway as you travel a gravel road back into the Absaroka Mountains to the ranch.
