  • A room with a view

    by

I could go on for a while about the YVI. The view from our room was magnificent especially when there were not 2 tents set up outside of our sliding glass door. The people involved in this situation were not at all concerned about all the other people that were minding there own business at 11:00 PM that night. By the way did I mention the view!

I thought all the staff was very professional in running the YVI. In good times and not so good times Ron and his people did a great job.

We have been to the Inn twice and will return again.

Unique Quality: The view is great! The Inn is close to the park and to Cody. We highly recommend this to be a stop on a vacation out West.

Staying In a Room or Campground In the Valley

    by

If you would prefer not to stay in town, and would enjoy a lovely mountain view, this is an option to the state park. Still within an easy drive from Cody, the Yellowstone Valley Inn is about 18 miles from town. Here you have the choice of a campground, cabins, or a small motel. In the campground you will find sites with electricity and water, or full hook ups. Both RVs and tents are welcome. Be warned, however, that there is no shade in this campground, although the 360 degree view of the beautiful mountainous valley may offset this disadvantage for you.

My second photo shows the cabins with the small motel in the background. There are 20 cabin rooms, which have knotty pine interiors and include two double beds. Fifteen guest rooms are available in the motel. From the balconies of the motel you can see the Shoshone River. To see views of the inside of the rooms visit their web page, listed below.

Unique Quality: There is a small heated outdoor swimming pool, coin-operated laundry, indoor hot tub, picnic tables, showers, and playground equipment if you have children. There is also a restaurant, and saloon.

Directions: Located in the beautiful Wapiti Valley, about 18 miles west of Cody along highway 14/16/20, and 32 miles east of Yellowstone National Park.

Check This Out if You Are In the Valley

by KimberlyAnn about Yellowstone Valley Inn

Yellowstone Valley Inn is a business that includes a restaurant, campgrounds, cabins, a small motel, and a saloon. This establishment is located about 18 miles from town in the Wapit Valley. If you are staying in the valley check out the saloon for some night entertainment. You will find a jukebox, dartboard and a small pool table, and on many nights you will find music, dancing, and Karaoke. Dress is very casual.

A Small Restaurant In A Beautiful Valley

by KimberlyAnn about Yellowstone Valley Inn

TheYellowstone Valley Inn is a casual, rustic restaurant which is located in the beautiful Wapiti Valley along the highway that takes tourists to Yellowstone Park. If you are staying in Cody, this is an out of the way place to eat, being about 18 miles from town. Because of the drive that most locals have to make to eat here, the restaurant does not have enough business to remain open in the winter. This does not mean, however, that the restaurant is of poor quality. We really enjoy the meals up here, as do a number of other locals that we know. The restaurant opens in the morning around 7:00 for breakfast, and remains open through the dinner hour. The cook is excellent, and although the menu is small, we have always found quality steaks and pan fried walleye on the entree list, and both are excellent. The only thing we have had here that was not as good as we had hoped, was dessert. We have only tried this once, so we may have just had an off night, but my husband’s chocolate cake, and my tiramisu, were both on the dry side. If you are staying in the valley, and would like to eat out, be sure to check out the Yellowstone Valley Inn.

My second photo is of the outside of the restaurant I love the walleye; my husband loves the fillet mignon.

I have heard that this restaurant has a different cook, so hopefully these dishes are still on the menu, and still as good!

Great place to stay with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The Shoshone river runs right next to the motel and campground. The motel and cabins are very clean and all of the help is very friendly. Definitely the best place to stay in the Yellowstone/ Cody area.
