We did not stay at this motel but it was suggested as a possible shower alternative by the visitor center and was convenient since we were were going down to town from the park to check out Snake River Brewing. It made more sense than backtracking up to Colter Bay Campground as we were camping at Jenny Lake, further south and closer to town.

Well, that was until we were told it cost $6 each to use them! It was even worse when we went down to The Bunkhouse (their affiliated hostel) and saw the restrooms. They were not super clean and about the only thing this place had going for it was they gave us clean towels to use so we didn't have to wet our own. That said, we had not had a shower in four days and had just finished a three day backpacking trip so it felt mighty good. Almost worth $6.

Needless to say, we backtracked to Colter Bay from then on for our showers, much cheaper and nicer.

Unique Quality: The Anvil Motel is a fairly inexpensive motel option in Jackson though prices vary considerably according to season. A standard room with a queen-sized bed is between $55-128. I would say that is a big range for a room. My guess is summer and winter are high season due to the national parks and ski lodges that surround Jackson. It has a very central location and looked to be worth $60 from the outside. '

The also run a hostel in the basement called The Bunkhouse, charging $35 for a dorm bed. We did see this area as we used their shower facilities once. It looked more like a college frat house than a hostel, maybe okay for a bunch of guys that like going out and getting drunk. I guess a good place to pass out but you would almost have to be traveling alone to consider it as a room would not be much more for a larger group. The bathrooms were not the best.
