We recently stayed at the Cowboy Village Resort and really enjoyed it. Each unit is a separate log-style cabin, complete with a wee porch, picnic table and grill. We chose a unit with a separate bedroom; the "living area" had a comfy sofa, small dining table with 2 chairs, a kitchen that more than met our needs--fridge, sink, 2-burner stove, microwave, plus tableware (4 plates, 4 cups, utensils, skillet), coffee maker with coffee makings. The feeling is cozy and western; not luxurious but very comfy.

We travel with our dog and this place is very dog-friendly--clean-up bag dispensers are posted throughout the site; each unit has a small lawn for doggie fun. Their only request is the dog not be left alone.

The staff was very friendly; downtown is within walking distance; Bubbas is a dash across a street. It was surprisingly quiet. We do not have children, but, I can imagine kids would love this place due to the "old west" feel and outdoor areas to romp.

We were very pleased with our stay.

The coolest little cabin in the west

    by

I really enjoyed the resort. It is a community of cabins based around a central complex with outdoor hottubs ( a must after skiing Jackson Hole). They have a game grill weekly and offer free shuttle service to the ski area. It is also walking distance to a smaller local mountain, Snow King, which has night skiing and sponsers the annual snowmobile hill clim, which is in the early spring and is areally big deal. My cabin was a 1 BR with loft space to throw gear and kitchenette. It was clean, cute, and spacious enough to spend a week. I also had a chance to see the studios with bunks, and they didn't have as much space but still had the same charm. It was also walking distance to downtown Jackson's bars and restaurants.

Unique Quality: The hot tubs are the best and having your own kitchen can't be beat. They also had continental breakfast served daily as part of your stay. We booked a package online through Jackson Hole's central res system which included our lift tickets for around $150 per day for two people, which is a really good deal.

Great Place To Stay

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I stayed at the Cowboy Village Resort for 4 nights. Very clean cabin and property. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and polite. Minimum noise level - except for the Magpies!! The showers were excellent!! Good water pressure. Small kitchenette/stove/refrigerator. Also, they provide an outdoor grill which was nice. We would definately stay there again and highly recommend it.

Beautiful setting

The Cowboy Village Resort is a comfortable, clean, convenient and homey place to spend a few days. My husband and I spent three nights there and the only complaints I have are that there should be better lighting in the cabin and more counter space in the bathroom. The cabin was very clean and ample toiletries were provided. The small kitchen was equipped with cookware and table ware, and in addition to the small kitchen table there was a picnic table on the front porch so we could enjoy our morning coffee. The view was beautiful and the walk to "downtown" Jackson was just a few blocks. I don't know that we would have been as comfortable if our children had come along as the quarters were rather tight. All in all I would recommend this motel to all except those who are expecting luxurious and spacious accomodations.

Great Cabin

Spent the last 2 nights of our Tetons/Yellowstone trip at the Cowboy Village Resort. Nice little cabins. Kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker and supplies, 2 cooking burners, refrigerator, and utensils to set up housekeeping. Only being there 2 days, we used it for snacks and drinks.
There is a grill and small picnic table on the covered front porch. There is also a coin laundry -- one washer, one dryer -- on the premises for guests only. Adjacent to the laundry room is the hot tub and a small conference room.
The office staff was friendly and helpful. They even took our leftover drinks and laundry supplies as well as the cooler we bought when we arrived. There is a public computer with high speed access in the lobby with printer. I was able to use it to check in for our return flights.
The cabins were clean, but it did take housekeeping most of the day to clean ours.
I had chosen the CVR so we could park our vehicles right to the door, unload and repack for the flights home. I had a good idea.

Not that impressed

by TripAdvisor Member nylon2006

We stayed at the Cowboy Village Resort for five nights over the Memorial Day weekend and were disappointed. We booked a Queen Cabin with a bunk bed even though there were just two of us. The bunkbed was awful. It was really high off the ground and the bunk bed above was very low making it very difficult to get out of bed. Because it was against a wall it was extremely difficult to get out in the middle of the night if you needed the bathroom as you literally had to climb over your partner!

We also found that the cabin was not as clean as it should have been. For example, the tables were not wiped down and there were lots of crumbs (not good as we had seen a few ants). Also towels were just thrown on the towel racks instead of being folded.

The kitchen was VERY basic, just a few plastic cups, bowls etc and some very cheap cutlery. The frying pan had certainly seen better days and the BBQ outside had some bird muck on it so we didn't use it. If you wanted to cook for yourself a lot here it would be difficult unless you bought your own utensils.

Exactly what we wanted

We just got back from staying at the Cowboy Village cabin #209. We had a deluxe queen cabin. The cabin was just perfect for the 3 of us. The beds were very comfy. The cabin was snug and warm- no drafts. The kitchen area was great. We used the Start bus system and went to Albertson's to get some food and ate several meals in the cabin. Dominoes Pizza delivers and so does Ocean City Chinese- super fast service from both. There is a Wendy's across the street, Bubba's BBQ, Orvis, Hoback Sporting goods and the biggest Dollar Tree Dollar store we've ever seen! The property is very beautiful and in a great location. Front desk and housekeeping are super nice.

So happy we chose this Jackson Hole property

by TripAdvisor Member FallVaca06

We chose this property based on a brochure detailing 4 "Town Square" vacation properties. We like to cook as many meals as possible at "home", no matter where we vacation. The cabins are very new, and there are a few models to choose from. We were thrilled with our entire stay, from the minute we pulled up, until the moment we needed to move on to Yellowstone. Clean, well stocked, internet and phones (we both own our own businesses and still have to check in, even in the wilderness!) We enjoyed the ambiance of the property - some of Jackson Hole makes you feel like you're...well....just not dressed up enough, and Cowboy Village likes you just the way you are. So many dogs staying in other cabins - we enjoyed meeting people by way of pooches! The front desk was happy to oblige my request for extra cookware. Make sure you bring something warm to wear to get to and from the wonderful hot tub. We were travelling during the "liquids ban" on airplanes - the toiletries provided by Cowboy Village spoiled me with their splurge-quality and aromatics. We stayed in a double-double deluxe, and would be happy to answer any questions from people planning a trip to the Tetons. We spent the 3 middle days of our vacation here, with 2 days earlier in West Yellowstone, and 3 days after around the East Entrance. FallVaca06@aol.com

Enjoyed the separate cabins

by TripAdvisor Member Exploremt

My wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon for one night. I would reccommend the King Bed Cabins, as I think they are slightly bigger than the queens. We had a nice time in Jackson, and the separate cabins are a good idea. The bathroom was small but serviceable. The rates were better than a lot of places around town as well.

No Follow-through by Owner

by TripAdvisor Member netplaya

One night during our stay the door broke and we could not close it. Apparently someone on a previous stay had tried to force the door open with their body weight, splitting the door jam and ultimately loosening the screws. One evening as we tried to leave, my wife found that she could not close the door. We contacted the front desk and they could not find the manager or maintenance man. Ultimately the owners themselves (60+ years old) came to, as they said it, "cobble" together a fix.

The female owner said for the inconvenience she would give the kids (who were standing right there) free tickets to the alpine slide. Of course the kids now wanted to go on this ride. Unfortunately, the problem was that the owner did NOT FOLLOW THROUGH on her promise. What could have been a graceful repair turned into a fumbled opportunity.

In addition, they said that they would come the next day to fix the door properly. During the remaining two days of our stay, they did not finalize the fix. Possibly if you go to cabin #204 you find the same split doorjam, held together with a rigged repair job (sistered wood). If so, you might not want to leave any valuables there!

The carpets were also discolored, although the rest of the cabin was in decent condition.

Beware...

Reasonable But Not Run Down Lodging in Jackson and Some Day Hike Recommendations

by mckinney3

We are traveling to Yellowstone from SLC via Jackson. Stopping over one night on the up trip. I am very confused about where to stay in Jackson as the Trip Advisor reviews are all over the map for the non-deluxe lodgings. We are just stopping over on our trip to Yellowstone. We like funky but require clean, comfortable, functioning and quiet. I keep getting drawn to the Cowboy Village if that helps with a recommendation. ($125-150)

We are passing this way so that we get to drive thru the Tetons going up and we will pass that route again coming South. We need some recommendations for day hikes off of the main hiway so we get some outdoors time on our travel days.

We will stay in Jackson for several nights on our return trip at the Bentwood Inn which is slightly out of town and is going to consume our big buck pampering needs.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Don't know much about lodging in Jackson, but there is a shoot out down town every afternoon. It is fun to watch and it is free.
