Teton Mountains
Spent only two days in Jackson so there are really no tips .
However the Teton Mountains are the best looking mountains in the USA ( excluding Alaska ).
Also . Real cowboys live in Wyoming .

Hi again --- Any good recommendations on interesting restaurants in Jackson or Teton Village? I love to try places where the locals go (and will eat just about anything), so I'd like to stay away from any chain type restaurants.
Much thanks!
Valerie
Hi,
Might not be your thing, but I had a great 'burger in Billy's Giant Hamburgers(typical American diner). B'fast was taken at The Bunnery, nice little bakery and diner. Both are in the centre of town on North Cache Drive.
Just a hint : Neither of us enjoyed Nani's Pasta house, the food did not live up to the nice surroundings nor the price!!!!!
we went to a REALLY good pizza place, can't remember the name but I think I have a tip on my Jackson VT page
They also had Indian take-out , close to the pizza place, but it was closed while we were there. I remember being very annoyed about that, since mostly what you find in the entire area are burger places and steak houses, and I like neither of those
Just don't forget to see the shoot out they do every evening by the town square.
Jackson Hole is one of my favorite stops in Wyoming. In my VT Jackson pages, I have a video of the street cowboys singing, fighting, and shooting. Also, a couple of restaurants and a bar/steak house. See VT webpage: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/736c8/dc462/
It is a fun stop. They have some great galleries there of cowboy art.
Larry - Fabulous write up on Jackson Hole, thanks for the link to your page! Your Grand Tetons picture looks like a postcard - absolutely gorgeous!!! Can't wait to spend some time out there. I took a brief look at your Solvang page too...I'm heading out to CA next month so I might be asking you for a few more tips in a couple weeks ;)
Thanks Lee Ann......I've never been to a real live shoot out before - looks interesting. I'm pulling my cowboy boots out for this trip ;)
Thank you Valerie for the kind words. Enjoy your summer of fun. Larry
Good morning,
At least here in Carlsbad, Ca.
I was looking for info about Jackson Hole and saw your posts and replies. I assume you have already been there and are back home now.
Any recommendations for food & drinks, spa, etc. I will be there from June 19th through the 27th. How did your river trip work out and who did you use. I had thought about using Jackson Hole River Adventures, but not really for any particular reason. The brewpub sounds like a fun place to stop in. Did you?
Hope you had a great time, and that your tomorrow is even better! Wayne

No need to drag that backpack into Jackson even if you just came off a great backcountry trip in the Tetons. A small day pack will suffice to carry what you need in this small town. The temperature in town is generally warmer than in Grand Teton National Park but weather is changeable so it's best to carry something warm in case the weather goes sour. If it's nice out, shed those hiking boots too and pull out the sandals. Your feet will be happy about that.
D was happy to get out of her “uniform” and into street clothes. She certainly looked beautiful after a much deserved shower and all “gussied up.” A wide angle comes in handy for getting all the beers and food into one shot. ;) We left our camp set up back at Jenny Lake so yes, we did have tent, sleeping bags, and mats sort of with us. I think next time, we just might get a room in town to fully take advantage of Snake River Brewing! D was an ace in Jackson, driving me home safely to Jenny Lake after my “research” at Snake River Brewing. :)
The Jackson area receives a lot of snow in the winter months (see photo), so winter brings people to Jackson to enjoy winter sports. Skiing is one of the most popular, and there are various ski hills in the area.
Snow King Resort which is located at 400 E. Snow King Ave., on the southeast edge of town, is Jackson’s original ski resort. Locals sometimes call it The Town Hill. It has steep, vertical slopes, and is lit at night, for night skiing. This is the cheapest hill to ski of the three areas I will discuss in this tip. Check out their mountain web cam at http://www.snowking.com/About-Us_MtnWebcam.aspx
Jackson Hole Ski Resort is very popular, and is located about 12 miles northwest of Jackson. Named after the valley in which it lies, it opened in 1966, and has a number of runs to choose from, including one of the highest drops in the North American continent. For more information visit this web page: http://www.jacksonhole.com
Grand Targee is more out of the way, located 42 miles northwest of Jackson. This is the newest ski area of the three, opening in the early 1970s. This area is known for its Heavenly or champagne powder snow, with an average of 500 inches per season. Because of its snow quality, Grand Targee ranks as one of the top four ski areas in the country. There are also Nordic skiing trails, snowshoeing, and snowcat trips available at Grand Targee, or you might enjoy a sleigh ride, or a dogsled tour. Visit http://www.grandtarghee.com for additional information.
The following picture gave the explanation : the picture was for the log cabin carried on the trailor ! Wouldn't it be nice to use it as a king size camping car ? That would be more comfortable than one of these toy size camping cars ! Of course, you will not be able to drive everywhere ! Winding small mountain roads will not be for you but comfort is worth some sacrifices, isn't it ?
Excellent breakfast. It was worth waiting in line for it.
Here is what they say: "
The Bunnery" is the locals favorite spot with the best breakfast in town. Along with a full breakfast menu they serving daily selections of freshly baked goodies: coffee cake, croissants, danishes, muffins, and much more. Hearty luncheons with great soups, delicious sandwiches served on our famous O.S.M. (Oats, Sunflower and Millet) bread. Tantalizing desserts." Good food, good service.
