West_IL_Guy's new Lovell Page
We discovered Lovell, and the entire Big Horn Basin while on our way to Yellowstone in 1998.
Visited Lovell for 3 days in 2000, we like it so much we'll be moving there in the summer of 2003.
Lovell is a great base camp to:
Travel the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Highways (Red Lodge-Cody, US-212 / WY-296), with a side trip into Yellowstone and lunch at the Tower Junction Picnic area.
Explore the Big Horns: Route 14-A to Burgess Junction, Rt-14 back to Greybull, WY-789 to Worland, over the Powdwer River Pass to Buffalo, the next day north to Dayton and back over Rt-14.
Spend a day making the grand circle of the BHB from Lovell to Basin to Geybull to Worland to Thermopolis to Meteetsee to Cody and back...........and be sure to travel along the Greybull River from Meteetsee to Otto and Emblem to Greybull.
Picture was taken along the Greybull River between Emblem and Meteetsee, the Owl Creek Range in the distance. Taken 9/20/00, it had snowed 'at higher elevations' the night before.
